Come To Christ With All Your Issues

I was reading the book of Luke this morning and came to these two verses.

Whenever I messed up, yes I would repent, but I still beat myself up about it afterwards, never realizing that it wasn't God's will for me to do that to myself. Here's why.

Jesus died for those who are sick, needy, and need help. He didn't die for people who think they're perfect and that's nothing's wrong with them. But guess what, having a self-righteous attitude is one of the very things He DID die for. Why? Because everyone has issues/flaws/failures/shortcomings/warts about themselves and putting up this front like you're ok is a bunch of poop.

Many many many people think that they have to be perfect before they can come to God, and that's just not true. If we were all perfect, then He would have never given us His Son. Amen? So, guess what, since Jesus died and rose again to heal and save those who are sick and lost, its OK to come to Him with all your issues and warts and ASK for help. In fact, He's waiting for and wanting us to do that! Repentance is a VERY good thing!

For years, I didn't realize this truth. I don't have to beat myself up over my sins and act like its all over when I do. I, and everyone, can come to Him without feeling ashamed or condemned because of all my issues I struggle with. Matter of fact, in John 3:16-17, Jesus points this out: He NEVER condemns anyone. He didn't come into the world to judge us, but to save us. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, He said that His strenghth is made perfect in our weakness. And that's a good thing!

Isn't it awesome that He never condemns us for sin and that we can just come to Him for anything and everything we need? Its encouraging and brings me peace of mind.

Many people don't know this and are living their lives in bondage because they think they have to be perfect before God. I encourage each and every believer in the body of Christ to go tell them this truth so they can be free and have the life Jesus died to give them!

Also, I'm not advocating purposely staying in sin just so God's strenghth can be perfected in your weaknesses. Let's not forget what Philippians 3:13-14 says.

One more thing, its natural to feel guilty or ashamed because of your sin, but know that its not ok for you to stay feeling that way.

Jesus didn't do all He did just so you can go around feeling bad about yourself all the time. He's able to pick you up and keep you from making the same mistakes over and over and over again.
