Jesus summed up the purpose of His being, and thus what became Christianity, in the Lord's Prayer by way of what He said in regards to the Father. "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven". Rather than focusing on the return of the Kingdom of God and His actual governance among us as indicated in that passage, the religion seems to have once again (as is the norm with human institutions) turned away from Him and made it about us, focusing on ourselves and our personal salvation. It seems we always have to put ourselves first, thus defeating the concept of God's will over our's. No wonder few find the narrow path.
