  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Careless of Conduct

Proverbs 19 Select Verses NASB1995

1 Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity
Than he who is perverse in speech and is a fool.
3 The foolishness of man ruins his way,
And his heart rages against the Lord.
5 A false witness will not go unpunished,
And he who tells lies will not escape.
15 Laziness casts into a deep sleep,
And an idle man will suffer hunger.
16 He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul,
But he who is careless of conduct will die.

When we are born into this world, we are born with sin natures, in the image of Adam, the first man God created, and the first man to sin against God. Because Adam sinned, all human kind have been born with sin natures, except for Jesus Christ who was not conceived of man but of the Holy Spirit.

In our flesh natures we are separate from God and unable, in our own flesh, to be acceptable to God. So God the Father sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ (God incarnate), to die on a cross, to take on our sins, to put our sins to death with him, and then to rise from the dead. Thus, by God-persuaded faith in the Lord Jesus, we can die with Christ to sin, and we can now walk (in conduct) in obedience to our Lord and to his commandments.

[Matthew 7:21-23; Luke 9:23-26; Romans 3:9-26; Romans 5:12-19; Romans 6:1-23; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22,42-49; Ephesians 2:1-3,8-10]

That is God’s plan for our lives that we should now put our sins behind us and that we should now walk in obedience to his commands, in surrender to the will and purpose of God for our lives, by the Spirit, empowered by God. But sadly, this is not the gospel that many are teaching and living in this generation. So many are believing that all they have to do is to make a profession of faith in Jesus and now all their sins are forgiven, and heaven is now secured them for eternity, but regardless of how they live.

Therefore, we have many people professing faith in Jesus Christ, convinced that heaven is what awaits them when they die, but while they continue to walk (in conduct, in practice) not in integrity, but according to what is perverse (deviant, disobedient, wicked, and immoral). So they are foolish in nature for ignoring the commands of God, and for refusing to forsake their sinful practices, and for continuing in deliberate and habitual sin in direct disobedience to our Lord, and in willful defiance of God’s commands.

Many who are still living in slavery to sin, but while making a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, will sin in secret, and then they will tell lies to cover up their sins, sometimes in advance of the sin hoping that no one will suspect them of willful and defiant and habitual sin against God and against other humans. Some of them will put on a show of righteousness on the outside, giving the impression that they are followers of Christ, but while sin is still their god and not God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit.

Those who make professions of faith in Jesus Christ, but then go right on deliberately and habitually sinning against the Lord, and against their fellow humans, are not only spiritually lazy (slothful) people, but they are spiritually void of any true relationship with the Lord. And this is not saying that none of us will ever sin, but the mark of a true follower of Christ is one whose life is committed to obeying the Lord and his commands, to forsaking their sins, and to serving the Lord in doing what God has for them to do.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Seek the Lord

Based off Isaiah 55
An Original Work / July 20, 2012
Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love
Musical Instrumentation by Mark Bradley

“Come to Me all you who thirst; come to waters.
Listen to Me, and eat what’s good today,
And your soul will delight in richest of fare.
Give ear to Me, and you will live.
I have made an eternal covenant with you.
Wash in the blood of the Lamb.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him.
Let the wicked forsake his way, in truth.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will receive mercy.
Freely, God pardons him.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,”
declares the Lord, our God.

“My word that goes out of My mouth is truthful.
It will not return to Me unfulfilled.
My word will accomplish all that I desire,
And achieve the goal I intend.
You will go in joy and be led forth in peace.
The mountains will burst into song… before you,
And all of the trees clap their hands.”
