Burdened With Guilt

“Oh Lord my God I’m back once more
Again I’ve done You wrong
Just like a fool I’ve broke Your law
And cannot sing my song
I love You Lord, although my crime
Would seem that I don’t care
But yet I know that all the time
In truth You’re always there
You’re with me in the fire Lord
You tell me when I stray
I know that I can ill afford
To lose You on the way
Around me is the cage I’ve built
With doors of fear; shut tight
The walls of shame, of burning guilt
Withhold Your precious light

I’m burdened down with all I’ve done
You’ve seen how much I’ve cried
From truth my God I’d love to run
But have no place to hide

Please help me in my trial today
My heart’s so full of pain
Lord hear these words to You I pray
Allow me try again

Allow Your presence flood my soul
Till darkness takes to wing
Till Jesus’ Flame has made me whole
Life’s song once more to sing
