Building Your Marriage God's Way from the Start

How can we build our marriages right from the Start? What Biblical principles can we use to ensure our Marriages are built on Godly Principles? Does God give us any guidelines on building our marriages the right way? What Pre-Marital Foundational standards can we set for ourselves to ensure our Marriage starts on the right foot and is God Honoring?

Long before anyone decides to commit their lives to another person in Holy Matrimony they must determine to put God 1st. Putting God 1st is the very bedrock of a solid Marriage.

Deuteronomy 6:5
Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. (Good News Bible)

If we Love God with all our Heart, All our Soul and All our Strength we will live our lives in a way that Honor's and Pleases him. This must be an absolute unwavering, unchanging Foundational life Principle. We must be absolutely determined that nothing and no one will ever cause us to compromise this principle, God must be 1st in all we do in Life especially in our Marriage decision.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Here is a more modern Translation of the above scripture, this is taken from (GW) God's Word version of the Holy Bible.

Stop forming inappropriate relationships with unbelievers. Can right and wrong be partners? Can light have anything in common with darkness? Can Christ agree with the devil? Can a believer share life with an unbeliever? Can God's temple contain false gods? Clearly, we are the temple of the living God. As God said, "I will live and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people." The Lord says, "Get away from unbelievers. Separate yourselves from them. Have nothing to do with anything unclean. Then I will welcome you." The Lord Almighty says, "I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters."

Notice in the King James Bible it states not to be unequally "Yoked" together with unbelievers and the God's Word Bible states "stop forming inappropriate relationships with unbelievers". What I love about the King James version of the Holy Bible is that it uses descriptive images to convey a point; the word "Yoked" is such an example. The Picture below shows an Ox and a Donkey Yoked together.

Deuteronomy 22:10

Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. (King James Bible)

Here is a more modern translation of the same verse

"Do not hitch an ox and a donkey together for plowing. (Good News Bible)

Notice the Wood piece that joins the donkey and the ox together, that is what a Yoke is. The King James Bible calls it a Yoke and the Good News bible calls it a hitch. This is a perfect picture of an unbiblical marriage. In the old testament you could yoke two oxen together to plow or you could yoke two Donkey's together to plow, but you couldn't yoke a ox with a donkey. Both must be the same kind; is a Sinner and a Saint the same kind? The Ox was a clean animal and the donkey was an unclean animal. If you yoke a donkey with an ox they will not work well together. Donkey's are known for being stubborn, if they don't want to move you will not be able to force them to move. The ox will have to drag the Donkey and he will not be able to get the work done, he will tire out. How will you be able to live for God if you are yoke together with someone who will be trying to pull you away from God. If you Marry an unsaved person you will be in a constant battle. A Sinner wants to fulfill the lust of the flesh and you want to live in the spirit.

Can Christ agree with the devil? Can a believer share life with an unbeliever? Can God's temple contain false gods?

It is very clear that a Christian and a non Christian have two different Masters; one serves God and the other serves the Devil. ( A person can say they don't serve the Devil and they are just living for themselves, but if they are not serving God they are actually an enemy and an advisory of God's.) One is spiritual and the other is carnal, One is Heavenly minded and the other is worldly minded.

Exodus 34:15 - 16
Do not make any treaties with the people of the country, because when they worship their pagan gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you to join them, and you will be tempted to eat the food they offer to their gods. Your sons might marry those foreign women, who would lead them to be unfaithful to me and to worship their pagan gods. (Good News Bible)

God wants Christians to Marry Christians to protect them from falling away from him. God Loves us so much that he has put us 1st, he knows what is best for us in the long run. This is why he has given us such a strong warning about being unequally yoked with unbelievers. God is trying to save us from a Marriage of Heartache and Pain, he is also trying to help us stay in Christ.

I know that God had me write this Blog, because he Loves you and he is reaching out to you, please heed God's warning. God may be trying to keep you from making a horrible mistake that will bring heartache and pain into your life. I Love You and Jesus Loves You.

If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you can know him today, He Loves you very much and he is waiting for you.
