Bridesmaids II

My Understanding: In the first dream, there was a problem with the legs under a table and so we had to keep either replacing the legs or adding to them. Legs are often symbolic of support, such as support for the body of Christ or of our spiritual walk with Christ. A table is often a symbol for the altar of God.

In I Peter 2:4-12, we learn that Jesus is the living stone who was rejected by man but chosen by God. I identify with that (rejected by man but chosen by God). The scripture also teaches that we are living stones being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood. To those who believe, this stone is precious, but to those who disbelieve, the stone causes men to stumble and is a rock that makes them fall.

I had the sense that there were parts of the legs under the table that were falling down and so we had to keep building them back up or adding to the legs in order to build the legs back up. So, this table in my dream is the rock, Jesus, who is the capstone – the stone used at the top of a wall or another structure (Encarta).

Those who are falling down underneath this capstone are those who are disobeying the message which they are destined for. Those who are being added to or are being built up underneath this table are those who belong to God - who are being built up into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood. And, those of us who are helping to build this spiritual house back up are those who are part of this royal priesthood of believers who are encouraging, interceding for, and are helping to strengthen those in the body of Christ, in particular those who are falling into disobedience.

This song just came into my head (sung by Phillips, Craig & Dean):

For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live
Not I but Christ that lives within me
His Cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it’s not my strength but His
There's no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live

In the second dream, the house, I believe, represents the Kingdom of God. My daughter usually represents either Israel or the church, since she is my one and only daughter. I have thought about and prayed about the significance of a dress owned by a “house guest” of the church. If I am a guest, I don’t live there. I am just visiting. So, a guest would be someone who has been invited by the owner, in this case God the Father, but who has not yet made a decision to accept Christ.

The person in this dream was told by God the Father that he had a bridesmaid dress for her, yet she chose the dress of the house guest instead. So, instead of taking on the dress of the bridesmaid, she chose to dress like that of an unbeliever and she chose to associate herself with the garbage out in the world, instead. In one sense I see myself as representing God here in offering this bridesmaid dress to someone and in another sense I see myself (past) as the woman to whom the dress was offered but who chose, instead, to dress like that of an unbeliever and to place myself in the back of a garbage truck (the refuse of the world), instead.

A bridesmaid is a girl or woman who helps the bride on her wedding day. I believe this is like a priest. A priest is still part of the body, yet he is also in a position of interceding for and assisting the body of Christ to live holy lives. In the same way, a bridesmaid helps the bride of Christ prepare for her wedding. She is still a part of the bride (bridal party), yet she has a “priestly” kind of role in preparing the bride of Christ for our Lord’s return so that she or he can help in presenting the bride to her husband as pure and beautiful and ready to meet her husband.

The Lord has a role for each one of his children in helping to build up the legs under the table and in helping the bride to prepare for her wedding day, but some have wandered away from wearing the dress that the Lord has for her and instead they have taken on the dress of an unbeliever and have chosen to get inside a garbage truck (the world and the world’s system) and to allow it to drive him or her instead.

In my case, I did return to my Lord, and I did take off that dress that made me look like an unbeliever and I forsook riding in the back of a garbage truck. I tried on several different bridesmaid dresses (ministries) before I found the one that was suited for me, i.e. the girl who had run off in the back of a garbage truck. The bridesmaid dress that the Lord had for me was of one who runs after others in the body of Christ and tells them “No, you have on the wrong dress!!” And, it also is of one who calls them to return and to change into the dress that the Lord has for them.

I was thinking that I would wear the bridesmaid dress that was right for me to a banquet and that my husband (the Lord Jesus) would be dressed in a white tuxedo. I believe this is referring to when Jesus returns for his bride and we reign with him during the Millennial Age. I know that I am looking forward with great expectation to my Lord’s return and to spending eternity with him.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and you know that God has a specific “bridesmaid dress” for you to wear – a ministry or a calling that he has specifically for you to serve the Body of Christ and to help prepare them for His soon return, yet you have chosen, instead, to dress like an unbeliever and to go with the crowd in the back of a garbage truck, then I encourage you to return to your Lord, to forsake both the “garbage truck” and the dress that makes you look like an unbeliever, and I encourage you to put on the bridesmaid dress that the Lord has for you so that you can begin to serve the Body of Christ in helping to build her up into a spiritual house and into a holy priesthood of believers in Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Lord and our coming King.
