THE ERROR OF UNIVERSALISM
Chapter 1
Surmonitis might be construed as a real sickness in some circles, how I feel about it looking at some words I had prepared about the slogan "In God We Trust", and to ask if that is a curse upon the Holy Spirit because the glamorous iconography is used as money instead of real silver and gold. Give unto Caesar, no? If the love of money is the root of all evil, maybe God's reputation is bruised even though Caesar's printing press is really to blame. That problem is compounded by the deafest ears and blindest eyes of all time, the complacency of the American consumer, but... oh, wow, the naked girls on the TV are now in 3D!!! So, just hurry up and blame the guns already.
Chapter 2
Ah, the passive voice, "so it was decided" by some internally external entity, that we're all just innocent bystanders within ourselves. Teaching children how to read, the letter A makes this sound, the letter B makes that sound; the letters just pronounce themselves automatically? In the strange transference of responsibility, searching the hearts and minds with an agency of causality, who might identify which neuron specifically is the source of the cascade? Or, if ego loves the praise but fears the blame, is the absolute value of credibility a zero sum?
Chapter 3
In the Bible, does Jacob wrestle with an angel? Does the angel give Jacob a name, calls him Israel? Is the contest blow for blow, kick for kick, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, forever exacting a perfect stalemate unto the discovery of Jacob's volition? Even now, people do this, questioning faith, asking why prayers go unanswered. Maybe if the right number could be dialed, get a connection on the line, that God might be convinced to do things, however faith is a spiritual gift. There's no substance to make a god or gods that works, never has and never will. What if giving a person over to idolatry is God's way of saying, "Leave me the hell alone or be destroyed, it's your choice," and wouldn't that be the compassion of an all-consuming fire that none should ever meet face to face and survive? To spell out yod-hey-vav-hey, does that bring the presence of God to the person, or does that bring the person to the presence of God?
Chapter 4
Revelation 13:15... yeah, I can wrestle with that angel. For some reason that's easier for me than for some others, that I should be a jealous king believing in the rule of law as the way to secure liberty. There's no way to explain perfectly, such as "seven heads" = this, "ten horns" = that, though it's about how the book appeals to itself. It's helpful to have a model to work with, like how a globe is useful to understand geography. In that, Revelation 12:9 is literally true, I know of such an object, and having the experience of witnessing it with my own eyes per adventure, I have no reason to fear it. When he's asked about himself, does Jonah say he's afraid of the devil? No, he says he fears God, the maker of the sea and the dry land. So, that is confidence in Messiah.
Chapter 5
Comparing Daniel 5 to Revelation 13 is insightful, or to suppose for the sake of arguement that "vessels" = "words" and ask what kind of stuff do they contain; what is the meaning of meaning; what is the interpretation of interpretation? The truth of God is spirituality, is like breathing or to breathe, and all life is about giving and receiving in space and time. Life is cosmic, miraculous. If prayer is about turning the selfish desire to get something into a selfless desire to give something, then life and living could be defined as God's prayer to the world, and that is the essence of Christianity. It's sublime mysticism, and it's amazing to consider how the Jews do it, the very elaborate science of reception and radiance, and some interesting charts and diagrams. Meanwhile, there's Revelation 21:2 and Revelation 22:2 which illustrate just how sophisticated Christianity can be.
Chapter 6
So I decided to find out if that can be measured, that is, scientifically. What is the weight or voltage of information? Boom, everything all at once. There is a strangeness about expecting to quantify what transcends quantity, like trying to divide infinity by zero; it's logical but non-physical, pertaining to metaphysics. If a man should bear witness to a book, and see the name of his name, or his name's name, is bound up in the seals of it, should he believe that in some other time and place beyond the horizon, was it written to him or was it written by him? So I asked God, why are these things so invisible to others, especially in these times when the computing machines are so plentiful?
Chapter 7
And to imagine that God answered with another question, Have you ever noticed how sometimes the academics recommend a textbook to anyone they sense as having original thoughts (you should read this), all the while they'll complain if anyone ever commits plagiarism? So I said, Yes, of course, this conversation is in my imagination, the captivity of student loan debt drives them to believe all sorts of nonsense because the love of money is the root of all evil, but... oh wow, the naked girls on TV are now in 3D!!! So, just hurry up and blame the capitalists already.
