Beware of covetousness.....

We are to take heed and beware of covetousness. A man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

Luke 12:15 KJV
(15) And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness:for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

We are to beware of false prophets who come speaking feigned words of righteousness for they will make you their prey as they will lead you astray from having love for one another which will take away THE “eternal” life from being manifested in your mortal body.

Matthew 7:15 KJV
(15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Let us not be deceived by men who have an abundance of things: large ministries, large church buildings, large congregations, etc. Gain is NOT a sign of godliness. Let us not fall for their lying signs and wonders.

Mark 13:21-23 KJV
(21) And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
(22) For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
(23) But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

We can NOT serve two masters: God AND mammon. Is not LIFE in the here and now more important than chasing after gain? Is not the mortal BODY more important than “raiment”? If we chase after these worldly things along with the religious-sounding covetous men, we will perish from this earth along with them.

Matthew 6:24-25 KJV
(24) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
(25) Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

We can NOT serve “Baal”….which means “master”. We can not serve the lusts of men who are motivated by their covetousness….their idolatry. They run after bigger church buildings, bigger ministries, bigger bank accounts, bigger congregations, etc, etc. They deceive people who look on the outside of things….the abundance of things they see with their eyes. Those who “see” are blinded by what the rich men of the churches possess.

But they are serving mammon while using God’s name to go after their covetousness. We can NOT serve both. Gain is NOT godliness. They are serving “Baal”…and “Ashtaroth”…which means “increase”. They have forsaken the right way and love the wages of unrighteousness…..Baal and Ashtaroth.

Judges 2:13-17 KJV
(13) And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

Many have entered through the wide gate of the mouths of the false prophets that spoil their listeners and followers. They flash their success for others to see….which are lying signs and wonders. They only come to steal, kill and destroy with their flattering mouths as many go after their covetous things.

(14) And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
(15) Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

Covetousness should not be standing where we worship God. When we awake from our “sleep” and see the problem, we are to flee to the “mountains” of His righteousness. We are to flee from idolatry…..for they are sacrificing to devils and not to God. They are serving their own belly and not our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mark 13:14-16 KJV
(14) But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

And when we flee from them, we are NOT to take any teaching, commandment, or tradition with us. We are not to take ANYTHING of theirs….not their covetous teachings…cloaks of covetousness. Let him who has stole, steal no more.

(15) And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
(16) And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

We are to leave it all behind….the flattering words….the garments of covetousness….the seeking after the glory of men…etc.

1 Thessalonians 2:3-6 KJV
(3) For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
(4) But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
(5) For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
(6) Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

Yet, the covetous will vilify the Truth as they will seek to justify themselves before men. We can not worship the beast….giving glory to men and seeking glory from men. We are to glorify God and hear His knowledge and escape from those who are living in error.

Luke 16:11-18 KJV
(11) If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
(12) And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
(13) No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
(14) And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

That which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

(15) And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
(16) The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

Not one “tittle” of the law has passed away…for the law is for the lawless and disobedient….for the ungodly and for sinners.

(17) And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

We can not put away the tongue that speaks with love, peace, joy, honesty and attach ourselves to the tongue that speaks flattery, deceit, guile, evil, etc.

(18) Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

1 Timothy 1:9-10 KJV
(9) Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
(10) For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

We fulfill the Law in “one word”, even in this: we shall love our neighbor as ourselves.

Galatians 5:14-18 KJV
(14) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(15) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
(16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
(17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

If we are led by the Spirit, then we are NOT under the law….but fulfilling it.

(18) But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

We can NOT follow after the “feigned words” of false teachers who preach in their covetousness. Their judgment does not linger and their condemnation slumbers not….for they are PERISHING away to the grave. They are perishing in their own corruption as they defile the flesh.

2 Peter 2:1-3 KJV
(1) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
(2) And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
(3) And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

They are sacrificing people in their covetousness….as they cause people to pass through the fire. They teach things for “filthy lucre”….they build the high places of Baal when they teach things for their covetousness. The “valley” is the mouth where these things are found.

Jeremiah 32:34-35 KJV
(34) But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.
(35) And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

We are to abide in Him…doing His commandments….having love for one another. If we do not abide in Him, we are cast forth as a branch and withered. Religious men gather us up with their feigned words of righteousness and we are cast into the “fire” and are burned.

John 15:3-7 KJV
(3) Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
(4) Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
(5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
(6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
(7) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

We are to abide in Him….keeping ourselves in the love of God. This is the love of God: that we keep His commandments.

1 John 5:2-3 KJV
(2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
(3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

We are to abide in Him and also have compassion making a difference. We are to save others with fear pulling them out of the “fire”…hating the “garment” spotted by the flesh. We are to hate the covetous teachings….the flattering words of covetous men while we pull others out of the “fire” with the Word of Truth.

Jude 1:21-25 KJV
(21) Keep yourselves in the love of God,looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
(22) And of some have compassion, making a difference:
(23) And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
(24) Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
(25) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

We are to keep His statutes and come out from among them and be separate and touch not the unclean thing….covetousness….the garment spotted by the flesh…and He shall receive us.

2 Corinthians 6:15-18 KJV
(15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
(16) And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
(17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
(18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons
