AS DAYS GROW SHORTER

My days are growing shorter here

My childhood spent on earth

With Jesus second coming near

I’m blessed with second birth


Born-grownup, with fear all gone

Born in glorious Light

Washed in Blood of Christ God’s Son

To God! Life’s King’s delight


This wretch, this sinner born anew

Baptised dowsed in Fire

Anointed in oil, Life’s Morning Dew

At Heaven’s Royal desire


Because of faith, because of trust

Accepting what was heard

This flesh and bone, this heap of dust

Was changed at Heaven’s Word


Christ Jesus! God’s dead Lamb risen

Life’s King of kings once slain

Gave keys to my filthy prison

And cleansed my soul again


Still life’s past, I clear recall

Each evil deed’s quite plain

Yet since answering Jesus’ call

The devil taunts in vain


I know where I am, where I’m going

I know who’s on my side

Through wisdom of Life’s Truth, knowing

With God I’ll always abide


Heaven’s awaiting my soul now

New body will soon be mine

With endless life, God will endow

Amidst Salvation’s Vine.....
