The first time I saw it, I was taken aback. Christ said that? He was talking to his disciples who asked him further about an issue--a heart issue.
It's okay to ask Jesus personally about certain things in His Word, even in life. What He can't stand is, of course, unbelief, and the inability to discern or understand. In other versions it reads, "do you not understand?" or "can you not discern?"

It's okay to see, hear, or read about things in the world, no matter how foul or obscene, unintentionally. Media is so full of them these days it's impossible not to catch a glimpse of them now and then--unless you migrate to planet Mars. Here in Manila there are big, big sexy billboards everywhere, very life-like and in full color. They "come alive" before your eyes. Oh my!

So what do you do? Close your eyes? Stay indoors and shut out everything? Some churches prohibit their people from watching movies in theaters. You can never legislate holiness. They may not be in theaters watching movies but if their hearts are evil they are evil. I've seen church leaders who didn't go see movies in theaters but committed sexual immorality.
Are you so dumb? It's not what goes in you or slipped through you but what you keep in your heart that defiles you. For out of the heart (what you choose to store there) comes evil, greed, sexual immorality, etc.
