Well this was the hardest week of the training. I'm fighting a slight injury to my hips, especially the right side. I decided to take Monday off and I cut back the miles on my midweek run. The big run of 20 miles was on Sunday. So hard to run that far and for so much time alone. My husband had to run on Saturday because my youngest son had a soccer tournament out of town. We took turns taking him to the games over the weekend.
The run went better than I thought, but I found that I had to use a lot of mental tricks that I learned just to keep myself from concentrating on the miles. My son and I saw "Run fat boy Run" on Saturday and I thought it was really funny (really more of a rental movie) but we enjoyed it. There is a part in the movie where he hits the "wall" and now I'm starting to dread hitting a wall in the marathon. So far I haven't hit a wall in my training (well a small wall in my first 16 miles training run).
Week 4
Mon: rest
Tues: 5
Wed: 7
Thurs: 5
Fri: spin
Sat: rest
Sun: 20
Now I get to start my three weeks of tapering and I'm thrilled. The next big hurdle is the marathon itself. I'm hoping that my slight injury starts getting a bit better as I didn't help it any by running for 20 miles.
