Once again two weeks have flown by. I can't believe the marathon is only five days away
the anxiety is increasing, especially since I have been struggling with an injury for the past three weeks. I've come to realize that I probably over trained a bit in that I only took one day of rest a week instead of the two days that my training schedule called for. What was I thinking?
Anyways, my hips have been a real problem. Shooting pain through my hips (that is going away during this tapering time), and the constant aching. I ordered a chi healing kit that is supposed to come today and that other runners swear to removing their pain. I would do just about anything right now to make sure I can run this race. Actually, I'm going to run it no matter what, I just don't want to have to end up walking most of it. My left arch in my foot hurts as well since I've been running a bit out of form trying to not irritate my hips. It is such a mental game right now, physical and mental.
We will be leaving on Thursday morning to head up to Monterey. The kids will be home trashing the house while we are gone. I think my reward for finishing the marathon should be to hire a cleaning service to clean my house from top to bottom next Monday. Wouldn't that make it all worth it! Maybe not. My house cleaning has definitely taken the brunt of all the hours I have spent training and recovering from injuries. I've also been eating lots of carbs and trying to drink a lot of water. I'm so ready for this to be over with...there is a thing called "taper madness" and I think I have officially gone taper "mad"
.
