As they went on down the great slope on that side, they saw further plants were yet larger. And then there were shrubs. It took a long while, but when they came near the bottom, there were small trees along the slope they saw there, and there were growths of plants right at the edge of the base of this mountain range. Seeing them closer, Hillariah said, "These are pine trees bearing cones, and these ones have seeds we would be able to eat."
Finarelem said, "You are right! I recognize them."
The group of people stopped there, and went to look at the cones to gather seeds that were already good. They gathered quite a lot, but here there were many of the trees, right by the bottom of the mountain range.
Deseradar said, "With these trees growing here, and all those strange plants there beyond them, there must be water sources around here, like we thought there must be. We must look and store up what water we can find!"
