Seeing a Häagen-Dazs commercial the other day about a scarcity of honey prompted an interesting converstion between myself and my husband about the disapearance of honeybees recently without explanation. Here is the commerical:

My husband brought up an interesting thought about it though while we were discussing it - in the bible one of the blessings to people from God is honey. I looked up some verses about this - and also looked into the missing honeybees - wondering now if this is just another sign of the impending end of the age as we know it and the soon return of Christ when its thought about in reference to all the other scarcities happening in the world and the growing divide between the rich and the poor as well as the other issues raised in the below blogs.
Verses about honey from the bible which imply that honey is a blessing from God-
Numbers 14:8 "If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, `a land which flows with milk and honey.'
Deuteronomy 8:7 "For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8. "a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;
9. "a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
10. "When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you.
11. "Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today..
Deuteronomy 26:15 `Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the land which You have given us, just as You swore to our fathers, "a land flowing with milk and honey.'' ' (Keep in mind milk prices are also getting out of control as well...)
Deuteronomy 31:20 "When I have brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves and grown fat, then they will turn to other gods and serve them; and they will provoke Me and break My covenant.
America is guilty of this - when we grew fat and complacent we removed Him from us and forgot Him and have served other Gods and now we are debtors even though we believe that we are rich!
Anyway back to the honeybee -science doesnt know why this is happening but agrees its happening but this causes more issues than just making ice cream also - bees are needed to pollinate many food crops. This is really bad news when combined with all the other food crisises and shortages.

God promises honey as one of the blessings for keeping his ways and as we get further and further from putting Him first - we can see the unrest happening in our once blessed land as we remove ourselves from Him -He removes His blessing from us and i think the honeybee is just one of those blessings.
