My Understanding: All of the 7 letters to the churches begin with this phrase, “To the angel of the church in…” There are varied interpretations as to what is meant by “angel,” but one of the interpretations I read this morning fits with this dream, I believe. At the beginning of dream one, I gave someone(s) two bags, one of which was brown. Inside the bag was a doll that looked like an angel. In my NIV Study Bible it stated that “angel” was either: 1) a heavenly messenger, 2) earthly messengers/ministers or 3) personifications of the prevailing spirit of each church. Brown is the color of earth and a bag is a container, so I sense that this is a picture of earthly messengers/ministers, instead of heavenly messengers.
What I believe the Lord is saying here is that he has given the church, or the USA, and/or the world these earthly messengers - or perhaps one specific messenger is intended here - along with the black bag. I believe I am representing him in this dream. Black can be a symbol of divine judgment, famine, death or sin. God does not give us sin. It appears that the black bag represents the “hour of trial” that is soon to come on the earth, which is why the bag has not yet been opened. There is a promise here in this scripture to be kept “from” the “hour of trial.” Some take that as a promise of a rapture of the church prior to the period of tribulation (that precedes the Lord’s return to set up his kingdom here on the earth in the Millennium), yet others translate that as being kept “through” the hour of trial. It appears that the Greek word can be translated either way. In any case, the prerequisite for being kept from or through is for those who have kept God’s command to endure patiently, who have kept his word and who have not denied his name.
In dream two, there were two people who broke into my apartment. The woman was rifling through my stuff without my permission. I was in the bathroom, then bedroom, so I did not hear them enter. A bathroom is a place where we go for cleansing and a bedroom is a symbol of a covenant relationship. So, this would be where believers would go to commune with the Lord in confession, repentance and faith. If I am the Lord and I did not hear these “managers” enter, then it is because this is saying that they are not genuine children of God (see Romans 2:28-29).
In this passage of scripture, we learn about those who are of the “synagogue of Satan”, who claim to be “Jews” though they are not, but are liars. This could also be translated as those who claim to be “God’s children,” i.e. Christians, yet they are fakes, phonies – not the real thing. A doll is a copy of the real thing, so this doll in the brown bag could be a picture of a particular false teacher or of false teachers in general. We know that God is absolutely sovereign and in control of all things and the Bible states that God places all people in authority. A manager is someone who manages others. In this case, the building would be a symbol of the world, perhaps, and the apartment would symbolize the USA and/or the church in the USA. I am symbolizing God, and this dream is related to v. 7 where it states: “These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David.”
The Lord has often shown me two false teachers, one of which is government and the other is the false teachers/ leaders of the apostate church. And, they are working in partnership together to break into the church and to mess with the truth of the gospel and with the authority of God and scripture. Hair is often a symbol of authority, so the hairdo or haircutting kit would most likely symbolize the Word of God which has authority to forgive (hairdo) and to judge (hair cut). Revelation speaks of the Beast and the false prophet (Rev. 19:20-21) who work for the dragon, Satan. So, the brown bag could represent these who must come first, and that bag is already opened and the doll has been brought forth. And, next is the black bag.
Fingers often have to do with pointing fingers of accusation or judgment. Satan is the great accuser of the brethren. And, these false teachers also put on my eye shadow. A shadow is a silhouette, which is an outline, profile, shape, and/or figure of. An eye is a symbol of insight. So, these false teachers were breaking into God’s church (his house) and were trying to illegally (without the authority of God) put on His image and His insight, but it was not God’s image, and what they purport is not His insight. Their motivation is underhanded, sneaky and devious. They mean harm to the Body of Christ, not good. I felt as though, after they left my apartment, that they were going to go do this in another person’s apartment that I knew, perhaps a reference to the church in another country.
Ok, I got on to read the news, and the headlines were this: Sotomayor Nominated To Supreme Court; Would Be First Hispanic Justice Sotomayor Nominated To Supreme Court; Would Be First Hispanic Justice -- Courant.com. When I saw the face of the female justice nominee, I immediately had recognition that she looked identical to the woman in my dream who was getting into “my”, i.e. God’s things – his word; his authority. In the dream, the woman was in my hairdo and/or haircutting kit. A hair cut has to do with judgment, i.e. judging right and wrong, and Ms. Sotomayor is a judge. In the dream, someone was standing in the doorway while this woman got into my things. Barack Obama has opened the door for this woman to become the next Supreme Court Judge, so he could be the one in the doorway. Truly God is our only Supreme Court Judge. The sense here is that man is trying to take God’s place – trying to play God; trying to mess with his justice.
I’m going to skip over Dream Three and Yesterday’s Dream for now, and I’m going to move on to Dream Four. Maybe this will help me to understand the previous dream, as well as the previous day’s dream. What I see here is that the married couple represents 1) God’s grace (John) and 2) Faith (Faith). They were married but then they separated for some time and now they are aged when they are reunited. I believe this is related to v. 11 where it states: “Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” I tried looking up this verse in commentaries, but most shy away from it, because it has the implication that someone could lose his or her salvation (thus yesterday’s dream).
So, I looked up the definition of “crown” in “Nelson’s Illustrated Bible Dictionary:” “Our inheritance as Christians who follow the will of our Lord is also described symbolically as a crown. As a reward for our faithfulness, we will receive an imperishable crown (I Cor. 9:25), one that will not wither or fade away, and a crown of eternal life (James 1:12).” So, based upon this definition, it sounds as though it is possible for a believer in Christ to lose his or her crown if she or he does not hold on to what he or she has, i.e. her or his faith, which is demonstrated by keeping God’s word, not denying his name and by keeping his command to endure patiently.
God’s grace and faith were married, but then they were separated and then reunited in their old age. I believe this refers to the church of today and that where they are right now is in the separation stage. So much of today’s teaching is “grace only” but lacks true “faith.” “Faith” and “belief” have been reduced to merely words that one speaks at an altar, but that lacks true evidence that genuine faith actually exists. That is why they are separated, because today’s church wants God to do everything for them without them being required to do anything in return. They take “works-based salvation” to the opposite extreme to where no evidence of faith is required.
In the dream, my oldest son, David was helping John and Faith (grace & faith) to move into an apartment similar to mine, i.e. the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God. David is a symbol of Jesus Christ as Messiah with the only authority (key) to provide entrance to the kingdom of heaven. Only when God’s grace is married to faith can we gain entrance into this kingdom of God. So, our credit (standing with God), where God is concerned, is only as good as our faith.
