Do you know what the 3rd leading PREVENTABLE CAUSE OF DEATH is, in the United States?
ALCOHOL.
The 1st is SMOKING. The 2nd is BAD DIET & LACK of EXERCISE. I know so many people who wouldn't THINK of smoking a cigarette and are very dedicated to exercise and even eating healthy, yet at the SAME TIME, they drink alcohol. It boggles my mind how people like this can really think they are "health conscious", while at the same time, they are destroying their body with alcohol (alcohol destroys brain cells - is there anyone who really thinks they have more brain cells than they need???) and by their example they are encouraging others to drink.
People don't think enough about their responsibility to be good examples to others. If we do things that lead others into sin, we are partially responsible for their sin. So if you drink, and your example leads others to drink, and they get drunk and kill themselves or someone else, YOU are partially to blame. That is a pretty heavy thought.
Christians should have NOTHING to do with ALCOHOL.
