Against Secular Education

The people of the Renaissance knew that science, philosophy, logic, art, music, and morality glorified God. However, people today are attempting to remove God as the originator of knowledge. In doing so they have abandoned all hope for truth in their academic and artistic pursuits.

People today have willingly cast aside all knowledge and wisdom. Even though they knew God they did not they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

As Christians we have the the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

So therefore, any academic or artistic pursuit which does not seek first to glorify God is merely vain philosophy and empty deception, according to the traditions of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ, and abandons all hope of true knowledge and wisdom which can only be found with a heart full of reverence and fear of the Lord.

(See Romans 1:21; Colossians 2:2, 3; 2:8; Proverbs 1:7; 9:10)

These pursuits are not only vain, but the are the fruits of an unregenerate heart. I'm not only speaking about the Atheist, Agnostic, or Deist, who does this, but many so-called Christians are also guilty of this as well.

Many of these so-called Christians today still choose to study in secular schools under non-believers. As it is written above, not only does this rob yourself of true knowledge and wisdom, but it is also a grievous sin to seek knowledge and wisdom outside of Christ.

To seek knowledge and wisdom outside of Christ is to raise yourself up with God saying that you can find the knowledge without God and is to be wise in your own eyes.

The mockery of God in this way is vain. Do not be deceived; God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. The one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but according to the Word of God, the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

So choose whom you will serve. You cannot have two masters. You can either seek knowledge and wisdom in Christ alone, or you can continue acting as though you are in unbelief, abandoning the solid foundation of Christ as the giver of knowledge and wisdom, and attempt to mock God at your vain attempts to obtain knowledge outside of Him on enemy territory.

(See Isaiah 5:21; 1 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 1:22; Galatians 6:8; Joshua 24:15; Luke 16:13)
