Things were rough, then the hurricane came.
It's been two weeks since Ike tore through here. I have worked like a madman, because the need for security oficers in this area exploded, and I was so frazzled it wasn't funny. I have been totally exhausted and emotionally drained, but it's starting to look up.
I do not understand why people would choose a life without God. This storm's aftermath reinforced an ugly truth I have known for years: our civilized sense of self is merely a tissue-thin veneer covering a nature that is selish, fearful, and capable of horrorible things. If adversity runs too hard, then we can end up being no better than mindless savages. The only that can withstand all adversity is God's love for us. If we can keep faith with him we can endure anything.
For those who prayed for Houston before, during, and after Ike, thanks so much. As bad as it is, it could have been far worse. May God bles you and those of your house, and may his name be glorified forever.Shawn
