A Place Prepared (3)

Throughout the world we wander still
To temple, hall and shrine
Religion thrives, but fails to fill
Like Jesus’ honest wine

The Lord gives Bread and wholesome meat
For children, milk so pure
Who eat the food at Jesus’ feet
Will surely all endure

A so called church, is none at all
When Christ is not the head
Like flimsy tents, they’ll tear and fall
In stagnant pomp lie dead

A shelter, has a church to be
A shield, against the foe
God’s guiding lamp through which to see
Where Jesus’ stones should go

It’s not a lounge, a place to sit
When truth we understand
We’re here to serve, to do our bit
Within the Saviour’s hand

A stone is weak; when on its own
But strong within a wall
Yet still we chose to walk alone
Like blinded fools to fall

There’s more to do than songs to sing
Like those before the veil -Lev.16:2
Our deeds in Christ must take to wing -Jn.13:15
Help others not to fall

God’s work on earth will soon be done
So man of flesh and bone
Should seek the face of Christ His Son
