Meum Iter: 2 Timothy 2:24 --- gentle prevails above all.
2 Timothy 2:24 --- gentle prevails above all.
24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 correcting opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance and then knowledge of the truth 26 and they will come to their senses and escape the devil's trap where they are held captive to do his will.
This one speaks volumes to me. So many Christians today use provocative, sharp, intelligent or belligerent speech to try and drive their view of the gospel home. The become bitter, angry, accusatory, judgmental, impatient, and unsympathetic.
Gal 5
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
There are no room for being judgmental, sharp, angry, bitter, or impatient here.
James 3
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical. 18 And the fruit that consists of righteousness is planted in peace among those who make peace.
Titus 3:2
2 They must not slander anyone, but be peaceable, gentle, showing complete courtesy to all people.
Wisdom from above is again gentle, percale, ACCOMMODATING. No room for sharp, judgmental intolerance here.
This was not Jesus' intent.
Matthew 19:16
16 Now someone came up to him and said, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?"
17 He said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." 18 "Which ones?" he asked. Jesus replied, " Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself." 20 The young man said to him, "I have wholeheartedly obeyed all these laws. What do I still lack?" 21 Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." 22 But when the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.
If you even think about how Jesus dealt with the rich man, he simply, gently told him, since you have done everything else, do this... And he left it at that. He did not become short, or angry, or bitter, or even judgmental and Jesus of all who have ever walked this earth, had the right to be judgmental, and yet he wasn't. He simply told him what he needed to do to be perfect, since the rich man had boasted he had done everything Jesus said already.
Being Christian means being able to see someone else's pain, their life, their demons from their point of view, and then helping them, not talking down, not being sharp, angry, impatient or intolerant even. You do not have the right, only God does.
It is extremely difficult to be peaceful and accommodating, loving and understanding when you're confronted with something that you don't understand that's why it's important to try to first get along with everybody and open a dialogue with anyone so that you may understand their position understand where they came from walk in their shoes understand what their shoes are I don't think most Christians do that.
They see everything their way and they beat everybody else over the head with it to say this is the way to do it they don't try to understand how somebody got to where they are or why. They don't try to help. They think that just quoting scripture and talking at them instead of with them to help them is the solution and it's not. We should be more like Jesus, and was walk and talk with the sinners and be friends with the sinners whatever the sin is and try to help them try to help them understand a better way to live a less selfish way. Sin is selfishness. That's all it is. Sin removes love from the situation we just have to put love back into a situation.
