As a white, American male, I certainly long for the good old days, when you could shoot an Injun, or slap a woman; when the darkies weren't uppity, and the messicans knew their place, and the only Chinese washed your laundry or built the railroads. Country's gone all to heck.

This is the example of taking the law too far. It's as if the law is more important than the people. Remember we are talking about the boy scouts. Instead of the ACLU spending the money building a boy scout for atheists and homosexuals they instead want to attack and sue the boy scout that's been around for years. It's exactly the same with those Pharisees in Jesus Day where they hate Jesus because he heal people on the Sabbath day. Jesus said to them "Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days or to do evil? to save life, or to kill?" "and when he had looked around with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts..." If the constitution can't protect the boy scouts for those who have corrupt hearts then it totally worthless. Men die for their families and their country not just for a piece of paper.

when i was younger i was a boy scout...i got all the way through the life scout level before deciding it was all BS and that i didn't want anything to do with the organisation.

people go on and on about how the boy scouts serve and important function for young men, teach them values and morals, and provide a "safe haven" from all the negative things that go on in school. let me tell you what i remember most about boy scouts:

i remember going to the summer camps. the guys i were in the troop with would stock up on beer and cigarettes (remember, it's hard to come by when you're 16) so we'd have "something to do" when the time rolled around. i remember more often than not someone would bring beer or cigarettes or inappropriate content to the campouts...we'd hide it from our scoutmasters, but knew it wouldn't be such a big issue if we got caught.

so all in all, i quit the scouts because because i was tired of my group putting up this "boy scouts, we're good!" front, while we drank and smoked and looked at inappropriate content on our outings...to be fair, i have NO problem with alcohol consumption, tobacco use, or inappropriate contentographic materials (i'll be the first to admit that i indulge in all 3 from time to time) but i DO have a problem with putting on a 'holier than thou' moralistic front while doing all of this...and anyone who says this was an isolated incident or troop is dead wrong...remember the summer camping trips were with scout groups from all around the region. i'd say our troop was pretty tame compared to most.

EDIT: if you think the boy scouts of america is an organisation worthy of your support, by all means, donate. but don't expect to be able to discriminate against nonchristians and homosexuals and then turn around and expect the american taxpayer to fork over money to support this discrimination.

yet this isn't the morals being taught. Obviously an adult knows teens will do things like this since we did when we was that age but also as adult we know good morals can eventually make an impact of their lifes when they get older. I will continue teaching my children goods morals even though I know they may forsake them in the teens years. Notice you seem to reveal that if you got caught you knew it would made too be of issue. Doesn't sound like the boy scouts are intolerant after all

in another words you no longer care for these morals since you have no problem with alcohol, tabacco, and inappropriate contents. Notice you didn't try to change the boy scout into your mole but decided it not for you. I gald you didn't sue the boy scouts.

Well for one thing the boy scouts discrimate againest girls. That's right , you can even go too extreme with crying discrimination . if a college wants 50 % blacks students and 50% white to have even then when when the 50% of one race is filled they will discriminate anyone of the filled race. First you pointed out the boy scouts isn't at all the strict enforcing the morals yet that try to paint them as religious bigots at the same time. So exactly what's evil and wrong about the boy scouts again?
Personally i find a lot that the government support I totally disagree. If everyone has to agree on one issue before the government can support it , there wouldn't hard be any government programs. I feel boy scouts and the girl scouts is the least of our worries with it's come to what the government supports.

At the Democratic National Convention in 2000, delegates stood and turned their backs in protest when a Boy Scout group was introduced on stage. Why did they invited the BSA in the first place? Imagine how the kids and parents felt.

If they aren't being rude to kids they invited to their function, liberals are trying to get the United Way to defund the BSA, voting to kick the BSA off public school property, suing to keep the BSA off public land.

This is just petty and mean.

How do Democrats except to win when they attack large groups of Americans? This week it is the Catholic church. Liberal rags such as the New York Times have savaged the church. Next week it will be gun owners, home schoolers, Baptists or somebody else.

The party of JFK, to which my parents belonged, has turned ugly and vicious.

Someone have a chip on their shoulder?

How have the Dems attacked the Catholic church? Please provide proof of the BSA at the DNC issue. BSA should receive no special rights. Hey, just like you think of gay people, no special rights for scouts!

Are you capable of making a post without railing on liberals? So far, it seems like that's all you're here for. Correct me if I'm wrong.

In any event, you missed the point. They're not suing to be "petty and mean", they're suing because you cannot claim to be affiliated with religion and still be an organization which gets the benefits they want. If they want to keep out athiests and homosexuals then all the more power to them, but they shouldn't be given money from the government or allowed to use public lands when they want to, unless those rights were to be extended to all other religions/lifestyles.

Boy Scouts is a boring organization. Adolescents should be involved in high school extracurriculars instead of this organizations. I guess that's why I dropped out, the whole grooming of people for military wasn't my cup of tea.

Down with Boy Scouts! I guess I also feel this way because there were quite too many racialists in there too. :D (Ali G - Booyakasha)
