TV Protestant Evangelism

I am curious, do you believe that most protestant TV evangalist shows "cheapen" the Word and Christ??

I can't help but look at these shows of some of these crazed fundamentalists with their huge TV shows and great big screens and frown.. It just seems they almost make a mockery of Christ by their actions, their 1000$ suits, their expensive grey wigs, their expensive gaudy jewelery, their constant ragging on the TV for you to give them money... They almost seem to use Christ as a buisness and a show.. rather than to show him truely respect with the eucharist..

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and it feels like a great sin what they are doing by their actions...

I have to disagree there.

Anyway, no, the essential message is there.

Lot's of people have found God through them.

It's the "God is the lotto, etc." that drives me nuts.

I used to watch them as a kid but I'm in the RCC now.

CBS exposed everything about him.

Down to following down the people who where "healed" by him.

Including a young boy whom Hinn promised to heal and set up a fund for.

6 months after this promise he was still blind and still no fund.......

This is not uncommon for Mr. Hinn who lives in a 1,000,000$ home.

Ted Haggard I can't stand either.. He got in trouble with a prositute I believe recently and bought meth from a homosexual... I find it appauling their "Church" hasn't gotton rid of him..

Benny Hinn is a false prophet and child of Satan.

Most of the others are preaching OSAS giving a false hope to many. Then there are the multitude who are in the "Word of Faith" movement which says that greed is OK.

Satan learned quickly how to manipulate the mass media. Sometimes I wonder if the mass media is not a direct product of Satan.

Some I do not like the teaching of and I always wonder how much of the money from those things they're pocketing... but I know pastors and priests that aren't on TV can be just as corrupt too.

There's one lady I enjoy immensely, Joyce Meyer. I love how she teaches, but I will say it's a very basic way of teaching the Bible. But if you're a young Christian you're going to need those teachings... later on they can get to the "meat" of theology and faith.

So no I don't think they're bad in any way, I think they are just trying to reach out to lost souls. (Or make a quick buck... depends)

The only ones that truly annoy me are the ones who say everyone who prays a specific prayer will be healed all their physical ailments (e.g. people who cannot walk will walk after praying that prayer).

I do like Billy Grahm. He has come a far way from the days of his youth. I also like Joyce Meyer.

My favorite is Father Corapi. Whoops! He is Catholic.

Considering the other fare available on TV, there are far more distasteful shows than TV evangelists.

Satirical comedy shows and cartoons such as South Park also poke fun at Christianity and Catholicism regularly.

The same freedom of speech that allows Mother Angelica to run EWTN allows Benny Hinn and Joel Osteen to appear on TV.

I don't think you can restrict one without restricting the other.
