The Two Mal'akiym-Messengers of Zechariah Chapter Two ~
Zechariah 2:1-13 KJV
1. I Lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2. Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
3. And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
4. And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
5. For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
6. Ho, Ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.
7. Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
8. For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
9. For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me.
10. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
11. And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12. And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
13. Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
The first mal'ak-messenger of Zechariah 2 is most likely the ''certain-'iysh-man'' Gabriy'el who was speaking with Zechariah. Scripture itself highly supports this probability because we find in Daniel 9:21 that Gabriy'el is there called ''the 'iysh-man'' Gabriy'el. It is he which has the measuring line in his hand in Zechariah 2:1. Then he goes forth to measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth, and what is the length thereof. As the man Gabriy'el goes forth from Zechariah suddenly another different Mal'ak commands Gabriy'el to ''Run!'' (back) and go ''speak to that young man'' all of the things which then follow in the passage. The ''young man'' which Gabriy'el is commanded to run back and speak with is the same Zechariah from whom he had just gone forth. This is not easy to understand from the English translations but is indeed the only way the passage makes any sense at all. Zechariah does not record the words as if Gabriy'el delivered them back to himself but rather he records the passage as if he overheard everything that the other Mal'ak had commanded Gabriy'el to tell him. Thus the remainder of the passage, (Zechariah 2:4-13) are the very words of the Commander of the Mal'akiym who is commanding Gabriy'el what to tell Zechariah:
Daniel 9:21 KJV
21. Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man [HSN#376 'iysh] Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
Gabriy'el goes forth from Zechariah ~
Zechariah 2:1-3
1. And I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold; an certain-'iysh-man [Gabriy'el] with a measuring line in his hand.
2. Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me; To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
3. And, behold, the mal'ak that spoke by me went forth, [Gabriy'el] and a different mal'ak [the Commander] went out to meet him:
From this point on the Commander of the holy Mal'akiym is the one speaking ~
Zechariah 2:4
4. And [the Commander] said unto him, [to Gabriy'el] Run! Speak to that young man, [Zechariah] saying; Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
And this Commander of the holy mal'akiym-messengers is the Mal'ak of YHWH ~
Zechariah 2:5-7
5. For I, saith YHWH, shall be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
6. Alas, Alas, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith YHWH: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, saith YHWH.
7. Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
Then the Mal'ak of YHWH says; ''AFTER THE GLORY HATH HE SENT ME''
And who is the Glory of YHWH except but the Son who is his express image?
Hebrews 1:1-3 KJV
1. God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3. Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
This Mal'ak-Messenger then is sent to the nations after the GLORY ~
Zechariah 2:8
8. For thus saith YHWH Tsabaoth; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
Then the Mal'ak himself states that he will shake his hand over the heathen spoilers;
And then shall it be known that YHWH did send this Mal'ak-Messenger ~
Zechariah2:9
9. For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that YHWH Tsabaoth hath sent me.
Then the Mal'ak says that YHWH shall dwell in the midst of the daughter of Zion ~
Zechariah 2:10
10. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith YHWH.
Matthew 21:1-5
1. And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Yeshua two disciples,
2. Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find a donkey tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
3. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
4. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5. Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon a donkey, and a colt the foal of a donkey.
This too is a quote from the prophet Zechariah ~
Zechariah 9:9
9. Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a donkey, and upon a colt the foal of a donkey.
Then shall many nations shall be joined to YHWH in that day. However, the Commander of the holy mal'akiym-messengers does not stop there but continues by stating that the nations joined unto YHWH in that day shall be to HIMSELF also a people; and that HE ALSO shall dwell in their midst:
AND THEY SHALL KNOW THAT YHWH DID SEND THIS MAL'AK ~
Zechariah 2:11-13
11. And many nations shall be joined to YHWH in that day, and they shall be to me for a people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that YHWH Tsabaoth hath sent me unto thee.
Then shall YHWH inherit Judah his portion in the holy 'adamah-soil-of-the-heart-land!
For the Mal'ak of YHWH is the Lion of Judah and Commander of the holy mal'akiym ~
Zechariah 2:12-13
