Trump's campaign goes into damage-control mode after he suggests cutting Medicare and Social Security benefits

When asked how the US could cut spending and his outlook on handling entitlements like Social Security and Medicare benefits, Trump suggested cuts could be made to the programs, which offer guaranteed financial support to retired and disabled workers.

"There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and the bad management of entitlements, tremendous bad management of entitlements. There's tremendous amounts of things and numbers of things you can do," Trump told CNBC's Joe Kernen in a rambling response to the question that touched on the stock market, oil drilling, and his administration's response to the COVID pandemic.

All that money going out to ordinary people arouses the greed of Trump and his friends. They'd like to get a piece of it. And will, if he gets his way.

Are y'all aware that, unless something very significant is done to either fix or help the social security system, it will run out of money long before citizens under 40 years old will be eligible to retire and then receive their retirement social security benefits?
Most people acknowledge that retirement social security benefits won't be enough which is why smart citizens have 401k's and other pension plans.

What I would like to know is how many in America are receiving disability payments from social security. What percentage of the Federal social security budget is used for disability payments?

And most of his supporters are recipients of both social security and medicare/ Go figure.
Grifters have zero concern for their victims. That's how they justify what they do.

  • The driving force for sociopaths is to dominate others. They do this for the feeling of power and control.
  • Because sociopaths lack a conscience, they are willing to do anything to get what they want.
  • To assess whether someone might be a sociopath, use The WEB Method, which refers to: their words, your emotions, and their behavior.

Trump's father told him the world was divided into killers and losers.

Yep. Aging population. Which is why we should be so very happy that immigrants are coming to America to help keep it in the black. Trump and his friends would really like to get a piece of it now, before that happens. In reality, higher taxes on people the top 1% who largely don't pay taxes will have to happen.

The number of such people has declined as a percentage of the total population:

Some 7.4 million people received disabled-worker benefits from Social Security in October 2023.

SSDI benefits are financed primarily by part of the Social Security payroll tax, and totaled about $143 billion in 2022. That’s roughly 2 percent of the federal budget and less than 1 percent of GDP.

Approximately what percentage of the taxes paid into the social security budget will come from the undocumented immigrants, aka illegal immigration?
If all undocumented immigrants were deported today, next year’s Social Security trust funds would have approximately $13 billion less for benefit payouts. It’s a considerable loss of dollars, especially when it’s projected that the Social Security funds will be depleted by 2034.

According to New American Economy, undocumented immigrants contributed $13 billion into the Social Security funds in 2016 and $3 billion to Medicare. Three years prior, the Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration, Stephen Goss, wrote a report that estimated undocumented immigrants contributed $12 billion into Social Security.

Approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants live in the U.S. with no legal authorization to work, yet an estimated 8 million do, both on and off the books. Since undocumented immigrants don’t have Social Security numbers and are not authorized to work legally in the U.S., they are not eligible for any Social Security benefits, whether they’ve paid into the system or not.
