The first gay marriages in California commenced today.
The simple fact that so few can explain why "homosexual marriage" is an oxymoron / contradiction in terms is telling of the fact that the Church has NOT been doing its job... and that marriage itself has NOT been held in high esteem in the Church (as is obvious by its divorce rates and infidelity rates both on par with and in some cases surpassing those of the unchurched)... giving the Church NO moral high ground to put down the endless assaults from those who would redefine if not exterminate the sanctity of marriage.
Today is a sad day.
But not one unexpected to the serious Bible student who has not buried their head in the sand or who thought popular vote / majority vote would solve the problem. It does not solve the problem. It cannot. Because what we have neglected to understand or face is the fact that ALL perversion is on the same path... some perverts are just further down that same path. GOD sets the standards and defines the boundaries. And when we for any reason cross those boundaries we pervert those standards and we ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters in the Church become perverts as well.
Our perversion may not go as far down the path of perversion, but it is the perversion of God's law nevertheless. And when we who have the Bible and who have the Holy Spirit living in us point the finger at those who do not... decrying their perversion because it is further down the path of perversion, we are ignoring the beam in our eye to expose the speck in their eye.
Its a matter of accountability to the amount of revelation we have rather than degree of perversion. In other words , we who have the truth are guiltier of the greater sin than those who do not have the truth and who have no reason to show restraint when it comes to their lusts. We have the truth. But we have joined the world in the pursuit of our desires and have allowed our homes and our families to be broken to satisfy self, to gratify our lust... placing a revolving door on marriage... replacing "till death do us part" with "till something better comes along..." Adultery is at an all time high... in the Church, never mind society.
And we lack the moral high ground to begin to explain or legislate why homosexuals cannot be officially married.
