Film, video, voice recording have a clinical accuracy about them that human memory cannot match. So, when we recall our life the narrative with which we accompany our visual recollections is full of justifications, reasons, explanations for why we chose to do or say one thing rather than another. It is tragic to observe how often the narrative is there to excuse the wrong we did.
At the last judgement our narrative will be absent, the visuals of our life will be accompanied with the words of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every act and every thought will be weighed by what our Lord taught us. And when we excuse ourselves for actions wrongly taken, inaction that makes us feel shame, unkindness in thought, word, and deed our excuses will be absent from the evidence before the judge.
How do you anticipate the retelling of your life will go?
Will you think, or maybe hope, that you'll be justified because of what Jesus did to save sinners?
