Star Wars fans should be upset another movie is being made the end of which is known before they even finish filming.
You mean like every WWII movie that's ever been made?

I don't disagree. Just saying that people are going to complain when they do deviate from the existing canon, even if Disney has said they won't abide by it.
It was a poorly written film, I didn't see the film until after it left theaters, so I didn't have the hype coloring my perspective. However, it was a very enjoyable film. She says she's never flown it before and I find it hard to believe that she had any actual flight experience that involved combat or she wouldn't be spending her time collecting and selling junk. Why would the BIG BAD GUYS give TIE fighters to morons? What military does that? And yes it's the Falcon... it's still a frieghter that's not been maintained or flown in years just sitting in the sand.
And yet he gets away with nary a scratch.
And yet she had never flown the ship, knowing what the parts do in theory is a completely different story than knowning how to correctly use them in practice.
She's just a poorly written character, Finn has flaws too which bug me, brainwashed since birth to be loyal to the bad guys, first time he sees combat all that conditioning goes away and he decided to help the resistence. The same resistence which blindly accepts him and Rey for no apparent reason other than to advance the plot. If it's that easy to get to the leadership of the rebellion or whatever they are calling themselves then their enemies must be truly incompetent.
I enjoyed most of the performances though, I greatly enjoyed Boyegas performance and I hope to see ep VIII give Ridley something to do that seems like an actual challenge.

I just hope the next film is not called "Star Wars: Episode VIII - Snoke Forcibly Retaliates."
Some people just need to grow up.'Star Wars' Fans Upset 'Rogue One' Has Another Female Lead
It is rather striking to see so many complaints (not just on Twitter), simply because the protagonist is female. The same thing occurred with Mad Max.
Disney is closing out the "Skywalker Saga" and laying the groundwork for a multitude of characters intended to stretch until those pre-teens are doddering old folk like me.
I think this is probably a good moment to point out that Luke was not a pilot before the Death Star Trench Run.
Man, when are white males going to catch a break in society?
It astounds me how many men get twisted in knots whenever someone has power and a vagina simultaneously.
IMO that's sort of the point, and a large part of what made the character so compelling to me. Kylo Ren has undergone some form of arrested development. He's got too much power, too little understanding, some serious cognitive dissonance, and this makes him flawed, interesting. He's not a blank slate monster like Vader was - he's a real person, with real struggles, even if he is a sadistic little twerp, and has a lot of things we want to hate about him. It's a good thing we hate him - he's the bad guy.Darth Bane would shake his head at Kylo Ren.

I totally agree with all of the above.IMO that's sort of the point, and a large part of what made the character so compelling to me. Kylo Ren has undergone some form of arrested development. I would add, Darth Maul, Count Dooku and Dark Sidious to that list. Though they recently released a novel of Sidious rise to power which helps flesh him out and give him some actual character but I'd wager 90% of Star Wars fans haven't read it.
Shh.Darth Maul was fleshed out in the Clone Wars series and has reappeared for more fleshing out in the Star Wars Rebels series.
