great thread!

  • Major: Dance
  • Minor: none
  • Current class (Freshman, etc.): Freshman
  • Christian or Secular College: Secular, the Christian dance college I got into was too far away.
  • How are you financing your studies: LOANS! haha!
  • Living in the dorm or community: Dorm :)
next year I hope to get into a private arts school in which I'll have to live in an apartment! Plus I'll get a BFA degree, instead of BA.

Neat. I've never met a dance major before. Nice to meet you! Will you learn all genre of dance by the time you graduate?

I'd like to go back to school.
  • What would you like to study: Counseling Psychology or Addiction Psychology
  • What questions do you have about college that you haven't yet asked anyone: None at this point.
  • Are you thinking about a secular or Christian school: Secular unless I can find a good Christian alternative.
  • What type of funding are you looking into to pay for your studies: Grants preferrably, would not want to take on any more loans.

I'll post my "current" stats, and my future stats, lol. (I plan to transfer next fall and completely change my major and stuff)

Current:
Major: Youth Ministries
Minor: Bible/Theology
Class: Sophomore
Christian/Secular: Christian
Financing: All out of pocket! (blergh)
Dorm: no... living at home with the parents.

Future:
Major: Mathematics (Adolescent Education)
Minor: none
Class: Junior (next fall, that is)
Christian/secular: definitely secular (one of the top party schools in the 90s)
Financing: out of pocket, hopefully a merit scholarship
Dorm: no... at home with rents

Math sounds fun! What prompted the change from Youth Ministries to math or will you continue it as well?

The school I'm going to right now is more modern focused, ballet is only twice a week (ahhh!). If my plans work to only stay there for this school year, then it'll be just ballet and modern.

If I get into the school I want to next year, I'll be doing ballet 5 days a week, plus modern most days and partnering and other classes. They have special sessions with African and other movement classes though. I didn't get in this year, but hopefully my audition will be stronger next year... :) :) praying!

With the ag ed degree I'll be able to teach high school ag classes, I wanted to go to vet school but my grades aren't good enough to get in so I'll probably just teach more animal science classes. I'll also be the FFA advisor for the high school. Some ag classes are; Natural Resource Management, Farm Management, Animal Science, Agri-Business Management, Horticulture, and quite a few other ones.

I am excited to be a senior, the only bad thing though is I'll have another year of school left, I'm a little behind in my classes by doing two majors.

Are you enjoying dorm life? What will you be able to do with Telecommunications?

Well... the way I see it, it usually takes 4 years to get a degree, so if it's taking 5 instead of 8 years, you are 3 years ahead of schedule. ;)

Are you wanting to teach? What is your favorite area of history? Are you enjoying dorm life?

A most interesting tread.

Graduate Studies
  • Degree: Astrophysics

Wow... sounds like a lot of science and math! So what does a degree (PhD?) in Astrophysics mean you will do?

Bioengineering - is this DNA/Genetics and stuff or am I in the wrong field? I bet you're excited to be a senior. Will you be able to get a job in your field right away or will you have to go to grad school?

Thanks for sharing everyone. I'm learning a lot. It's neat to hear what everyone is doing and studying.

Well, after my PhD I'll probably stay on with the project that I'm doing my thesis for...until I get a professorship. And then it's on to the race for tenure!

My dorm essentially rocks, because we tend to have the largest amount of community interaction compared to other dorms. I can go down to the lounge and get a pick-up game of whatever, whenever, or perhaps discuss the nature of morality or the meaning of life if I want (honors dorms are fun!). As for TCOM - well, see for yourself.

You should have steady work! Have you found a group of students that believe similar to you and aren't so party crazy?

Well, after my PhD I'll probably stay on with the project that I'm doing my thesis for...until I get a professorship. And then it's on to the race for tenure!

Sounds like big plans. Lots of studies ahead for you! Keep us posted as you go.

Thanks for the link. You're in my part of the world.. only I'm on the west side of the state, near Terre Haute. I liked the video feed on the "grandma" in the movie. She seemed fun and energetic.
