Will their peers shame them?

http://dailycaller.com/2015/06/25/l...acial-taunts-after-presidential-announcement/

Jindal, son of immigrants from India, during his announcement said, “And I’m done with all this talk about hyphenated Americans. We are not Indian-Americans, Irish-Americans, African-Americans, rich Americans, or poor Americans — we are all Americans.”

That was too much for many, particularly Indian comedians associated with progressive websites. They took to Twitter to attack.

Has Jindal even taken any stances that could be seen as Uncle Tomish?
I don't think that's possible. He's not black, and Indian immigrants have done quite well in the USA. Applying the "Uncle Tom" paradigm to it seems really leukophobic; as if white people just automatically oppress everyone.

Looks to me that we have some Indians shaming another Indian for scrubbing his heritage from his candidacy....

A shameless attempt to win a conservative vote.
He is doing the right thing by embracing the Melting Pot. It's a rejection of the racist notion that our race determines who we are. Jindals message is unifying. The others are divisive and racist

How are Indian-Americans criticizing Jindal for saying something that can be understood to be denying his own Indian-American heritage racist exactly?
He is rejecting the anti-american and divisive hyphenation ideology. Racists are saying "racially, you're Indian, so because of your race you have to do such and such"

Because they're expecting him to be a certain way because of his race.

No, they are insulting him for his abandonment of the name of his culture for votes in America. They did not say he was inferior to them in any way.

Furthermore, he arrogantly spoke for all the other Indian-Americans who would prefer to keep their heritage by saying "We are not Indian-Americans, Irish – Americans, African– Americans, rich Americans, or poor Americans – we are all Americans."

Presumptuous and insulting towards others earns the ridicule.

No racism here.

I see. According to this post, one assumes that if an Indian self identifies as an Indian-American, that person is racist.

Admitting that racism exists and that it creates problems for people who are minority races sure is racist.

What evidence is there that he deliberately shed his culture for votes?

America is the Melting Pot. That means melt or get out of the pot. His culture is American, and he appears to identify as ethnic American, as we all should. The racism is where you assume his culture is or should be Indian because his race is Indian. It would be like expecting me to speak Luxembourgish and practice their culture because I'm racially so.
