Pope Wants Sunday As Day of Rest Starting in 2011

Don't you see how sly the Papacy is in substituting Sunday for the Sabbath? SDAs have been predicting this event for over a hundred years now. And now we seeing before our very eyes how it is playing out!! In Genesis 2, God created the Sabbath not Sunday, yet the Pope uses Genesis 2 as his theological underpinnings for Sunday rest from secular labor and for free time spent with family! That was meant to take place on the 7th day Sabbath not on the 1st day, Sunday!

Paul did not want the galatians, or any of his churches messin with sabbath.

Everyone knows that catholic doctrine, is not pauline, because of the works teaching, so paaaaleeeease, get a better source..or sources..

So what if the day of rest is celebrated on Saturday or moved to Sunday to honor the resurrection of Jesus? The intent is the same.

No - in the second paragraph he is proclaiming Sunday as the Lord's day, as the day of Resurrection. In the first paragraph he is refer to the natural order of the world as coming from God...the liturgy of time. Somewhat related, but he's not proclaiming Sunday as the OT Sabbath.

Do you not see how the Pope was referring to the need from rest from work on the Sunday? The command to rest one day a week came from the Sabbath Commandment, there is no command to rest from work on Sunday in OT or the NT!

Why are you are not you a Protestant Methodist not raising your voice in objection to the suggestions of the Papacy that people worldwide should be resting on Sunday, and working on Saturday?!! Sabbath is the only day in the Bible where there is a commandment that says to rest on the 7th day. Are you really a Protestant, or are you really a bedfellow of Rome?

What you just said is a trumped up diversionary tactic. The point in question the Pope is using a sly method of duping Protestants and Catholics to rest on Sunday by trying to make Sunday like the Sabbath when comes to resting from labor and devoting the time to spiritual concerns. When there is no such command to do such things on Sunday in the Bible, while ignoring the Sabbath Commandment.

If you did not have Paul to quote from almost everything that you say would fall like a house of cards. Paul was a Pharisee and worshiped and rested on Sabbath. If you would look at all of the evidence in the whole Bible, you would "see the light".

There might be some professed Christians and even atheists that would protest a Sunday Law on the grounds of freedom from government interference in their lives, but their numbers would be overwhelmed by the ignorant masses who don't know their Bibles.

Firstly: I observe Sabbath on the Sabbath. I reject nothing of God's Law.

Secondly: You assume that God "has not reached" me based upon your erroneous assumptions of my alleged Sabbath-breaking.

You have made keeping a Saturday Sabbath salvific or a sign of salvation, like tongues to a pentecostal. Those who disagree with you are condemned, while you blow trumpets in the marketplace to announce your sabbath-keeping.

I reject nothing of God's Law, nor His glorious gospel that set me free from the WORKS of that Law, those works by which you have condemned me, in error and arrogance.

The Sabbath is a foreshadow to 'entering God's rest'. The Sabbath is a rest from works, as God rested from all of his works on the seventh day. He has been resting ever since from his works of creating things. We labor to enter this rest (Hebrews 4.)

Anyways, this is what Jesus said regarding the Sabbath days:

And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

So I ask you as well: is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days? Are there not such things as good works?

And again, are Christians not called to keep every day holy, seeing as they are called to be holy every day?
