Only in a mind of a Pharisee does the intricacies of the halacha come into play on making decisions. I love the black and white in the P... plain reading of the text... but I can see that is exactly what would be going through Paul's mind as he decides on how he is going to handle this decision.

Ya its easy to see how Paul being raised a Pharisee, at Gamaliel's feet no less, would have meant that throughout his whole life he would have subconsciously, if not consciously, had that going through his head all the time. But of course he would have followed the RUACH in most decisions too, which indirectly makes halakhah. Lol
