OT: Orthodox Photographers

I'm crazy about photography! I'm the parish paprazzi! Unfortunately my poor old Pentax K20 and good lenses have been in the wards but it still gets some great shots. I'm dreaming of a K30!

The one where the light is shining on that one individual before the icons is wonderful - and the others are wonderful as well.

Lighting was horrendous - Christmas trees with Blue lights - Clear plastic on the Iconostas and red light from the heaters - all guaranteed to produce good photos

This shot appealed to me

Originally it was just a head popped out , but by the time I'd grabbed the camera from in front of me this was what I actually got

I really loved the photos provided by Ikonographics and Anhelyna! I actually copied and pasted them (hope that's ok!) to a Power Point presentation that I always use with my class on Christianity. Powerful photos, ladies! Loved 'em!

If anyone else has some really powerful pics of clergy especially, or in the insides of our Orthodox temples, throw 'em on here!

That'd actually be brilliant - as it concerns seeing people in Orthodox living everyday life

Eh, gentlemen, you are both confused, every thread on here eventually turns into one of those three subjects. Used to be every thread turned into beer and baklava, not anymore.

Those are some great shots! All natural lighting I assume? Do you do any studio portraiture?

Yes, its all natural lighting. I don't like using flash at all...hence no studio work. I love capturing natural portraits, not getting people to to pose.

I wonder about one thing, though.. I'm kind of shy about taking photos and a lot of people are bothered by it especially in the church. There are some monasteries where they don't even allow taking pictures inside the grounds. But I think I should be fine in our parish church. What is your method, Julia? You seem to take a lot of pictures inside churches.

Well I avoid using flash at all costs and I sneak around as discreetly as possible
