I have never been a single issue voter.

Perhaps, but the thread is about the "primary" concern.

For instance, from my point of view, if we don't survive as a nation, then the rest of the questions do not matter.

Forgive me...

Not a Democrat but Bill Clinton had a campaign slogan back in ’92 that still rings true today.

"It's the economy stupid"?

Forgive me...

Islamic terrorism does not pose a serious threat to our continued survival as a nation.

Yes it does and it will from now on. It will change the very legal fabric of our nation by it's numbers alone.

Forgive me...

How so? Muslims currently make up 2% of the US population. Even bringing in a million more at once would not budge that number towards anything like the massive plurality needed to make that kind of change.

That’s the one.

It was not directed at you specifically but it seems all the rhetoric are things that can wait a bit.

Who we should invade

Who we should deport

Who we should take rights from

Who we should oppress

What laws we should overturn

What treaties we should nullify

What allies we should support

What religion should we demonize

No doubt, but do you have a single most primary concern. I do.

Forgive me...

It'd be very hard to draw enough appeal to get elected on a single issue at any level of government unless there were a very specific set of extreme circumstances that were taking place.

For example, if you were in a locality that had an unreliable water supply and there were times when people were going days without water...then you might be able to run on the single issue of "I'm going to restore a reliable water supply so that this doesn't keep occurring!"

However, in normal circumstances (and especially at the federal level), it's very hard to make a go of it without at least being heavily involved in 3-4 key issues equally.

Being a single issue candidate is a huge risk because you run the risk of seriously alienating some people with your stance, and you don't have well established stances on other issues that might bring them back around to your side.

What is your primary (there can be only one) national concern?

Forgive me...
The fact that someone running for president cannot have more than one primary concern at a time.

Well you are right in that, though likely not in the sense you mean.

I think you're going to need to quantify your claim with some sort of official statistics, etc...

As another poster made reference to, the Muslim population in our country is very small...and the fears of "they're going to enforce Sharia Law on everyone" are always completely unfounded based on the misunderstanding of what that actually entails. (many folks seem to have it in their head that Sharia law would trump US law, which isn't the case...it's simply an arbitration process through their religious officials to handle matters between Muslims in the eyes of the church...however, they don't trump US law)...essentially, think of it in the same way as when people get "annulments to marriage in the eyes of the church" in the Catholic church.

But it makes a good fear campaign, and remember the OP is "Running" for president.

I know it might seem counter intuitive given the primary focus on the dangers of Islamist terror in the media but most of the terror attacks in the US are actually commited by non-Muslims. FBI reports and other statistics bear this out.

Right now I go back and forth between holding economic justice or the need for a more peaceful government (ie no war, belligerent foreign policy, and no executions) as the key focuses.

Bernie Sanders seems best on both issues. I normally vote Green Party, Socialist Party USA, or for some other third party but I'm going to go Democratic this time. I hope I don't get burned.
