SCRANTON, Pa. - A Pennsylvania man faces up to 37 years in prison now that he's been convicted of tearing open a neighbour's door with a chain saw in a fit of anger over parking.
Authorities said 34-year-old Robert Kane began sawing through the front door of Jamie Zaleski's apartment in Scranton last March while Zaleski and several friends ran out the back.
Kane was angry because a friend of Zaleski's parked in front of his house.
Police say Zaleski heard a knock at the door, asked who it was, and Kane responded, "Your worst (expletive) nightmare. Open the door or I'll cut it down."
Officials say, he then cut a gash in the door with a chain saw.

37 years for, um... dooricide?

Hmm...i take it that 37 years it the theoretically possible maximum penalty, but that the actual penalty has not been announced yet.

Anyway:
A jury convicted Kane on Tuesday of charges including attempted burglary, attempted criminal trespass and terroristic threats.
Doesn't attempted burglary imply secrecy and/or the intent to steal something? And terroristic threats? Either there is a part to the story that is left out from the article, or it's a gross judical error.

This is assualt with a deadly weapon. As it was intended to keep people from parking (legally) in front of his house he is using deadly force to deprive others of legal rights. Probably falls under Rico statutes.

Such a person should be taken off the street. Common Criminals are uch safer to deal with.

Actually, the legal definition of burglary is entering a building with the intent to commit a crime within. Since the usual crime intended is larceny, burglary has become associated with theft.
