Arizona is no doubt following a proud American tradition:

So now it's the Mexicans' turn. Nothing new under the Sun(down).

And that's the elephant in the room folks. Many people won't be stopped because they don't look illegal, so they don't care if latinos (or those who look 'suitably illegal') are. That's why this scheme is, to them, 'good', whilst a national ID card scheme would be terrible: because then they'd have to bear the indignation of having to carry their papers around, even if they were never stoped.

The Oklahoma City bombing is widely known enough to be beyond dispute. The middle picture is of an abortion clinic bombing. And the bottom picture...well, given the level of violence the KKK has historically engaged in, those people look dangerous. Kind of like a brown skin apparently does to you and the people who wrote the Arizona law. So if they've truly done nothing wrong, they have nothing to hide.

Right?

Isn't that the operant standard now? "Suspicion of unknown hanky-panky?"

The Oklahoma City bombing was carried out over 15 years ago by two individuals. The abortion clinic bombing is undated. Neither of the two are representative of a massive right-wing people problem. It is not against the law to belong to the KKK. They may look dangerous, and they are somewhat dense, but there is no law on the books against either.

That's just plain offensive. When you don't have a leg to stand on just use the race card. This is not a race issue and you should be ashamed for portraying it as one.

I reiterate:
Looking illegal is not illegal. So what amounts to "reasonable suspicion" to demand ID is the real matter at hand.
The term "reasonable suspicion" is too broad.

I'd rather allow 10 illegals come accross the border than trample on the civil liberties of 1 US citizen.

nonsense.
Whatever you say brinny, whatever you say.

If this actually affected you, you would be outraged at the utterly unreasonable basis on which you could be stopped and asked to prove your citizenship. But it doesn't, so it appears that you don't care. It's that simple.

Only people of ethnic minorities or those who "look like" illegals are going to be stopped. Hence, racial profiling is utterly central to this bill. White people have nothing to fear, and latinos are going to have to carry papers around with them all the time. How is this not a race issue?

Every single illegal immigrant is a criminal.
No one said they weren't.

But latin americans (or anyone who might resemble them) who are legal citizens are not crimnals. That's the problem.

Oh, my bad, I thought the subject was about how this law can be construed to unconstiutionally discriminate against brown skinned people, leading to incarceration if they do not have an ID on them.

What is the subject? :|

To use your words:
Are you trolling?

Are people being deliberately obtuse here? Can you not see that lots of innocent people are going to be stopped, almost all of whom will be latino? And if they can't produce papers they're going to be arrested? Do you even care?

The point you're missing is that this law panders to those for whom race is an issue. And on the street, race will be an issue.

But since you're not of the affected race, you couldn't care less, of course. As long as the police come for someone else, you're cool with that.

So what?

White people can't be illegal immigrants? Isn't that racism?
