The fact that this nation has fallen so low as to reelect Obama is proof that we are due for judgment soon. His actions over the next four years are on our heads, collectively.

Yeah, I don't see how that managed to happen. People are always trying to become or stay middle class. Yet in this country, the middle class carries the lower class on their backs, while they get stomped on by the upper class. Our government rewards people to do nothing but sit on their butts and collect medicare every month. So its no wonder the lowers re-elected his incompetent behind.

First of all, son, people who are on Medicare have PAID into it all their lives. And then, after paying into it, they still must have enough work credits to receive the benefits they have contributed into the pot. After about 40 years of paying into it you might have the right to complain about those who have to survive on it. At the tender age of 20, you truly do not have that kind of authority nor knowledge of it.

Old age isn't a guarantee of wisdom or knowledge. You don't seem to have thought it through. I very much doubt the government has little accounts for each and every working citizen. It would take up too much server space, and require too much management. A more probable train of thought would be that they collect medicare from working individuals, and stick it all in a big pot. Then disperse it accordingly.

My money is being stolen just the same as a 40 year olds. I have every right to complain.

I think the money shouldn't be stolen from other individuals. But that the family should be responsible. And after them, the church.

Note to young poster: Laissez-faire capitalism (eg. what you probably are unknowingly voting for) doesn't work at keeping a strong middle class, but always ends up in larger disparity. eg. the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Hence, governments including the holy and all-knowing GOP, try to put in checks and balances. One of those is proper medical care, a human right that should not have an insurance sized price tag.

I am a US citizen now living in a country with full, proper, socialized medical care. It's awesome. It costs me around a dollar a day in a levy, which if I were to take out private cover I would get back. We also have proper, generous socialized unemployment cover and much more. Let me tell you- there's hardly a beggar on the street. Unemployment is lower than the US. Taxes are high but life is secure, safe and comfortable and the poorest of the poor still get fed and don't have to lose their homes if they get sick. Sure, we have the poor. I help them all the time. But it's not a serious social scandal slitting the spiritual throat of the society like it is in so much of the US. Yes I blame the system, not the individual, for the problem.

All the junk your media feeds you about the "evils" of what they erroneously call "socialism" is just baloney and propaganda. A balanced, mixed economy is about building a real civilization where opportunity is not based on wealth, where even the poor can afford to get an education, live a healthy life and pursue "life and liberty".

Good points, as it's easy to believe that they are people as well and have a right to self-determination/wanting to protect themselves, be it the Iranian Jews or the Arabs in the land. It's not as if they're all "terrorists" and often we act as if they should simply accept the labels/aggression given to them and treat it as if their reactions are wrong all the time. Noam Chomsky shared some excellent thoughts on the issue which really made me think:

For the elderly, who are often dependent on it alongside other social services - especially if/when they have disabilities -or those who are impoverished/struggling, folks forget how beneficial services are.
