Mark 16:19 and 1 Peter 3:22 tell us that Jesus is sat at the right hand of God:

"So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God."
"who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him."

So first of all who is this "God" that Jesus is sat next to? Is it the Father, or the Holy Spirit, or is Jesus sat next to Jesus?
Second, how many thrones are there? One for the Father, one for Jesus, and one for the Holy Spirit?
Third, how is this one God, unless this whole thing isn't taken literally?

The three are one.. It mattered not that the Father was in heaven while Jesus is on earth.. So it does not matter if Jesus is on the right Hand of God in heaven.. They are still one..

One of the basic beliefs of Christianity is that God can be in all places at the same time. So it makes no difference if they are close or far or in different dimensions if you like.. They are still one no matter what..

1 John 5: KJV
{7} For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Hi there, thank you for asking very important questions!

The phrase "right hand man" means to be most valued:

right-hand man
noun
1. an indispensable or invaluable assistant; right hand.
the definition of right-hand man

This is because Jesus lives forever to intercede for us. Some detail is given in Hebrews 7:23-25 and 1 John 2:1.

We believe that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. This is a figure of speech, there are no literal "thrones". As though God sits in some sort of giant sky chair.

The concept of one's "throne" refers to ruling with authority, and in that regard there is one: the one God, Holy Trinity, is Lord and Almighty over all.

“And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” Matt 19:28

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:” Matt 25:31

“And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.”

Based on this, there are at least 13 thrones in heaven. But Jesus shares the Father's throne, and the Holy Spirit, so that should be counted as three, so that makes fifteen.

All quotes from the King James Version.

There is One ultimate Throne...

Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For "God has put all things in subjection under his feet." But when it says, "all things are put in subjection," it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

It is never a good idea to read a metaphor as a literal description. Picturesque language about God sitting on a throne is a reference to his power and absolute sovereignty. It is not meant to imply that God has a literal backside, which he plants on a literal throne.
