I'm in minneapolis too...why would he be deported the war is long over :s we got germans all over the country

Probably for lying to get into the country. I'd rather we keep him, personally. The Germans would lock him up and the Israelis would kill him.

Its better he pay for his crime now than - eventually do the long term purgatory and or other worldly punishments.

At 94 - i hardly believe Germany will do too much with him except put him in jail with a hospital nearby. He is probably getting off easy. As Commander - even if innocent and he could be from personally doing anything - he still was there.

Why did he write a memoir and tell the truth?
Perhaps his conscience was eating at him all these years.

The SS was declared a criminal organization in total during the Nuremberg trials

Any member of the SS is subject to deportation as an indicted war criminal.

They found a suspected Nazi in the town I lived in in NY...he had even been an usher in the Catholic Church there. They even did an SNL skit about him once...

I'm not sure what ever happened (we moved to Missouri shortly afterwards). He wasn't a "big fish" as far as Nazis go. It seemed as if he had spent the forty years after the war atoning.

At this point most of the Nazis have probably died.

Snipped to portion addressed

Sometimes I think you and I lived in the same town in New York. Either that or there were a couple Nazis living there.

Not meaning to judge, but the guy always gave me the creeps. Friend's grandmother would visit, so sometimes friend and I would accompany. Glad to leave.

A guy in my platoon when I was in the Marines, his father was a SS Officer in the German Army. His father came to the US after the war and built a very successful construction business in NYC. He showed the guys in my squad pictures of his father in his SS uniform.

I don't know if it's true that all former SS members are deported when discovered.

We had a Nazi living next door to us. She sued all the neighbors around her property, including us, trying to increase her wealth at our expense. Then she would donate it to the LaRouche Campaign for U.S. President. Lord have mercy. Whenever she would try to damage our property, it seemed like the Holy Spirit would inform us, and we would go outside armed with our camera. Her last act of vandalism: taking a sledge hammer to our stone wall. Our mere presence made it so miserable for her that she moved elsewhere. We learned recently that she had finally died last year of apparently natural causes (old age)

By the way, there is a Nazi bunker hidden away in the hills of Los Angeles, California.
