That baby would be around 110 years old now if he has lived that long.

According to tradition it was started in 1864 as these were staples given by the US Government. I'd copy and paste the details but I am on my phone. Wiki it when you get a chance.

In the previous pic, Franklin Roosevelt just arrived at downtown Roanoke, Va. for the occasion of dedicating the VA Hospital in Salem, Va., which was about 5 miles away. This happened on Oct. 19, 1934.

Wow. That's a good pic considering cameras barely existed then, and of questionable quality besides.

The first known photo of a human being. Paris, Circa 1838. This shutter had to be held open for several minutes so everything that was moving got washed out. The guy in the lower left was having his shoes shined and didn't more while the photo was being taken.

Maybe, maybe not....Circa 1862 likely North or South Carolina, slave children on a plantation. There is some disagreement on this and some think its a fake made sometime in the 1920's . If it is, it's a dang good fake.
