This could be posted in the Music forum. But Feb. is designated to remembering the contributions to American society made by African-Americans. So I'm posting it here. Jamesetta Hawkins, better known as Etta James, was a recording artist from the 50s, up to the 2000s. She died in 2012 at age 73. She possessed a powerful contralto voice and could sing most anything--R & B, jazz, gospel, rock & roll, blues, soul, and American songbook standards were all within her repertoire. She's one of my favorite vocalists, who should be better known. A sample of her songs:
