Is anyone here going to make use of the numerous exemptions to the individual mandate?

Me, I'm converting to the mennonites.

I'm using my employer provided insurance as my exemption, as are millions of other Americans.

My husband and I get it through my employer, but if we didn't I would definitely not want to do without.

The insurance is one reason why I wouldn't retire early, but now with the exchanges perhaps I could afford to.

Dave Ramsey has a good analysis of the costs of ACA on YouTube. Anyone who thinks costs will go down for anyone is sorely mistaken.

  8. I am still waiting for my $2500 decrease.:-( If Obama says it, it must be true.

So no one is planning to opt out of the system completely without having previous insurance?

What did Ramsey say? I listen to him a lot but don't get to listen to all of what he has to say.

    Did you get debt free?

Why would you opt out of getting health insurance?

The phrase "cut off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind.

There's only one way to completely opt out of the health care system: have no health care issues whatsoever, at any time, ever.

And there's only one way to do that:

    Die.

-- A2SG, just know that attempting to do that may result in someone calling an ambulance for you, so.....

LOL ... no, no, no. That is absolutely false. Protocol has been spot on about that.

Simply LIE. Millions will take that approach, just as millions already do today on other matters relating to the federal government.

Um, no. See, if you try to commit suicide and someone finds you, more likely than not an ambulance will be called.

See, it's a standard joke about suicide being a crime in many jurisdictions, but there's a valid reason for it. That way, you can be given medical treatment even over your own objections.

You can lie all you want to, but you will need health care at some point during your life.

    -- A2SG, it's a fact of, well, life.....

I would love to have health insurance but I can't afford it and I'm not turning over all my private information to the government.

Sometimes I think Obama should be called the Exaggerator.

Obama: more people will be in the pool, lower premiums.
    Me: cool sounds feasible
    Obama: by $2500 a year!!1
Me: will I get the drugs you are on with a silver plan? They must be pretty good.
