For instance, airplane pilots, you have a captain and a co-captain? Are they of equal authority and stature in the profession? Is one subordinate to the other?
Does the prefix "Co-" imply or identify equality?

Well from what I understand is when the Pilot goes to get coffee the co-pilot is in charge... Tee hee... This is what I am saying.. There is none that can be a Co-redemptrous.. Because Christ redeemed man from Sin all by Himself..

The use of 'Co-' in the word 'Co-Redemptrix' simply means that Mary worked with the plan of Salvation...that she was fully obedient to God's will, and Christ's mission, and did whatever was required of her to assist her Son. Who else cooperated as fully as she did?
But the fact is that the Church is extremely leery of using this title for Mary...simply because she does not wish to sow dissention and discord with her non-Catholic brethren over something so easily misconstrued.
As a Catholic, I completely understand and agree with this title...but it's not something I would use in everyday language.

But all whom come to Christ co-operate with God for salvation for It is He that draws us to Him and He that gives us the faith to believe.. It is Christ who died and Christ who rose from the dead. Mary gave birth to Jesus.. The Holy Spirit has brought many to rebirth in Christ.. For Jesus was the firstborn of many followers.. If we attatch "co" to Mary then we must attatch it to the ones who took the message to the world- the disciples+ Paul.
Sure Mary bought him into the world,but this would be pointless if knowone was to deliver the message, so we have equally important workman at both ends.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, who was crucified for you, the author and finisher of our faith.
Redemption is about Jesus going into the most Holy place with his own blood -once,and for all, and God was well pleased.
Lets not forget Joseph's faith here, what mighty faith.---poor guy

No kidding, but the really funny thing is that Catholics do not discuss The Blessed Mother nearly as much as some of the non-Catholics do on CF! Not nearly as much...it's kind of spooky! Makes ya wonder

Our eyes are fixed on Jesus. Mary is nothing without Him. We are all nothing without Him.
Doesn't take away from the fact that Mary was chosen and prepared by God to be the way through which our Hope and Life and Faith and Salvation entered the world. It doesn't change the fact that her 'yes' undid Eve's 'no'.

Why do you think Mary was perplexed at Gabriels words.? She saw herself and thought it was not merited, she was humble, but soso blessed.
She is a special lady for sure, but not any more than Abraham was a special man, or others that demonstrated remarkable faith.- thank God for Noah...
Gods own arm worked salvation for us all and this is Jesus Christ, the only begotton of God.

Yep...she was, too. And it was more than the OT fathers and prophets. *emphasis mine*
That's why she is more...why she is first among the Saints. Did God take His Flesh from Abraham? From Noah? From any of the other holy men and women? No...He chose Mary. I'm not going to second guess God. She didn't win a lottery or something. The Father begot His Son in Mary. Jesus was not 'created' in Mary's womb...whole and apart from her. He received the fullness of His humanity from her. He was *of* her, and since Jesus was perfect and spotless in every way...well, then, yeah...Mary was pretty 'special'.
And it is all to the Glory of God. He worked this wonder in Mary. He chose her as His *mother*. And I'd say that was a bit more special than just about anything that came before.
