To quote from the article

Adams called Black Americans a “hate group” and suggested white Americans “get the hell away from Black people” in response to a conservative organization’s poll purporting to show that many African Americans do not agree with the statement: “It’s OK to be white.”

The Anti-Defamation League says the phrase was popularised in 2017 as a trolling campaign by members of the discussion forum 4chan and was then used by some white supremacists.

“If nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people ... that’s a hate group,” said Adams, who is white, on his YouTube channel on Wednesday. “And I don’t want to have anything to do with them.”

It doesn't surprise me. Scott Adams has never really been all there, but he went full-on nuts under Trump, and seems to have drunk deep from Accelerationist nihilism. He must have alot of repressed anger.

It's too bad, he had a great thing going for so long. He's 65 and can retire comfortably, so he probably doesn't care much about his image any more. It would be best if he retires in silence, because his public comments have been reprehensible lately.

This is a case where the "punching up" vs. "punching down" dynamic is at play.

Given that he is someone who had a long history with publications (albeit, not in a journalistic sense), you'd think he would've known "the rules of game" so to speak.

Much like the "It's okay to be white" was a reference to an alt-right trolling statement, I'm wondering if his “if they don't like us, white people need to get away from Black people” line was a bad taste attempt at ironically referencing some of the rhetoric used by Elijah Muhammed and Marcus Garvey back in the day suggesting a similar sentiment (just going in the other direction). However, most people today would be too young to get that reference/irony-attempt (if that's indeed what he was doing and wasn't just going on a racist rant).

Clearly the original phrase was designed to troll people, along with the memes that the OK symbol and milk drinking being racist.
However the approach from many companies and many people, effectively.play into the meme.
The answer is to "It's OK to be white" is not to ban or be horrified be the statement, and thereby appear to indicate that it is not OK to be white.
The answer is "It's OK to be white, and it is OK be whatever colour you are."

It appears that Jesus no longer loves the little children, well not all the children. Maybe we need a new woke version.

For whatever it's worth, Scott Adams claims he was taken out of context and that his statement everyone is upset about was meant as exaggerated hyperbole:
"I'm not the problem! Everyone else is the problem!", isn't the defense he was thinking it would be.

Umm, no. I saw his podcast. There's no hint in his podcast that he's making "exaggerated hyperbole," unless he thinks he has a well-known reputation for such like Dave Chappelle. But then again, even Dave Chappelle is actually serious about everything he says.

What part of his statements make that clear?

It is ok to be white. It's pretty messed up if that poll is accurate.

The punching up /punching down dynamic is a joke. You would have to believe someone is beneath you to even begin thinking that way.

Rule being "white man can't speak about race"?

Was it? Did the pollster conform this?

I think he's just come to the realization that some black people are racist, they won't stop blaming him as a white man, and he's genuinely saying he's done helping.

I don't know why anyone is surprised at this. Hate generally doesn't get love in return, and the media (all media, not just one's preferred media to hate) has been trying to get a race war going for over a decade. Media is definitely getting their way, and sooner rather than later.

Some things are predictable. Enough white people dragged from their car at stoplights to be beaten and you begin to look at "blacks" with a sideways glance. And yes, that did happen more than once.

Welcome to 2020 and beyond... The question is as it's been for years now: whether we are going to buy into the war they desire - because it can't happen without all of us.

Some will always buy into it though.
