The shear number of murders and the LACK of enough detectives makes the problem of arresting the perps difficult.
The crime problems are endemic to Chicago due to a variety
of social factors.
If you don't understand 'endemic' here is the definition:

The people of the society in the crime ridden areas are responsible for the problems.
The locals tolerate what they want to tolerate. Do you think
the locals who may have information to help solve crimes actually

Not hardly.
I base my opinions on experience and education.
And you?
The population of the city I policed was 40% ethnic.
ALL the illegal bars with harlot houses were in the ethnic
neighborhoods.
We didn't bother those "cheat spots" because the residents
WANTED them there.
Only when someone got shot or stabbed would we step in and
shut them down only to have them spring up the next day
in another location in the "hood".

I never, ever, not once, heard any American friends of mine
say bad things about Canadians.
A group of us visited Canada for many years on fishing trips
and as long as we were spending U.S. dollars we were
tolerated.
A group of us sometimes visited a local watering hole for a beer
and often were not even waited on so we shut up and left.
Long ago my daughter married a Canadian fellow and moved
to Canada and could not get work of any kind and was pretty much
shunned.
So was her ex-husband for marrying an American.

Twice us guys returning from fishing in Canada were searched.
I mean SEARCHED. As in the trucks were unloaded and
everything gone through.
We were delayed for hours.
I haven't been back in over 3 decades and would not go back
if the Canadians were giving away free gold.
I got a speeding ticket in Canada for driving TWO m.p.h. over the
speed limit while locals largely ignored the speed limits.
There is no doubt in my mind that the citizens and government
in Canada don't care one bit for America or Americans.
I'm SURE it's because they don't have a real football team.
The last time I was with fellow cops in Canada a buddy shot
a trophy bear and we took it to be checked in.
The Ministry HUNTED for a reason to take the bear.
They found one.
The ministry that issued the hunting license made a typo
error so the government took the bear, arrested my buddy, and
threatened to confiscate my pick up truck because I transported
the bear.
No doubt in my mind they HATE Americans.
Canada can kiss my American butt, I mean bucks good bye!
Recall during American's failed prohibition that Canada made
millions selling Canadian booze illegally to known gangsters.
Canada is not a friend to the U.S. in any way.
Canada depends upon U.S. military might for defense.

What stands out the most looking at both charts and knowing that 90% of the victims are male is that a lot of young, Black men are being killed in Chicago. No race comes even close to overall deaths by homicide. Keep in mind that based on 2010 Census numbers, only 33% of Chicago's population was classified as Black.

In 2011, there were 140 convicted offenders for the 128 victims with an associated prosecution. There were more offenders than victims because 10.7% of homicides had two offenders and 10.0% had three or more offenders convicted. 87% of all offenders had a prior arrest history. Offenders were 88% male.

No. All of American, including yourself, should be ashamed of those numbers. It should embarrass you to post them, but instead you use them to attack people who are trying to make a difference. Behaviour like this is the reason those numbers are so bad.

So instead of attacking people who are trying to make a difference, do the decent thing, look deeply inside yourself and ask "What can I do to make a difference?" Then you do it.

I was probably 8 years old before I understood I was a white kid.
My dad spent of a lot of time in jail and mother did her best to
raise us kids.
Black people took care of my sister and I when very young as mother
walked to work in a bakery at 4 a.m.
Dad came back into the picture after he sobered up.
He eventually relapsed and died as a direct result of his alcoholism.
He FROZE to death.
I, however, earned 2 degrees, was a cop 'till being disabled with
broken back #4 and severe p.t.s.d.
I retired again from G.M. as a supervisor.
If ya wanna your gonna.
If you don't wanna you ain't gonna.
I could make ALL the excuses in the world to fail in life.
I excel and am damned proud of it.
Today I work with others struggling with addiction as a volunteer
at least 5 days a week for nothing more than Christian agape love.
I'm sick of " I iz a po' li'l black chil' and it be all whities fault! "

Dang. I can remember when everyone had a minority friend, and that minority friend always agreed with their bigotry against minorities. I was an amazing phenomena. But eventually people quit believing them.

Now it seems a lot of people have "family members" who are minorities. It's an interesting phenomena.

I think the right has unrealistic expectations. They know Obama is busy being the anti-christ *and* he's busy trying to take away all their guns, *and* he's plotting to declare a state of emergency so he can stay on for a third term, but he's also supposed to find the time to look after Chicago. Come on, let's get real.

Cherry picking the most extreme things that anybody ever has had to say against Obama, and somehow transposing that as the position that the Right has about Obama lacks authenticity as an argument.
If you want to spend your time trolling up people who actually do believe that Obama is the anti-Christ-and they do exist- then those are the kind of arguments that you are going to descend into.
I suppose there is some kind of circus-like entertainment dredging up the kind of spectacle involved in holding up "obama is the anti-christ' crowd up for mockery, and lots of people will like you for that.
Everybody likes a circus after all.
