We wouldn't have this problem if Trump built the wall. Why didn't it get done?

The answer is complicated. It's not just an easy thing as "we are going to build the wall and as long as Congress funds it it happens."

Yes Congress does have to vote the money. That's not a guarantee if you know how Congress works. Secondly land for the fence also is often owned by private owners and they can stop the government from taking the land. That can take years to adjudicate. It's impossible to build a wall in just a matter of a couple of years. You have to have a government who is committed to building a wall and part of that commitment is a willingness to go through the legal processes to do it. And we don't have that. Biden pledged to stop the wall. The Democrats don't want the wall and can easily throw a monkey wrench into the process.

Yes we need the wall, but if we don't have a government that is committed to it for the next 10 years or however long it would take to build it. We don't have that. Yes Trump said he would build the wall and he was dumb enough to say he would get Mexico to build it. Trump obviously had no clue as to what it would take and how long it would take. But he was trying. And if everyone had gotten in board, then yes it would have gotten built. Just like he said.

All I can say is go back in history and analyze the promise and the timing of laws when The PARTY had control of the government. For example, Obama talked about the path to citizenship but he didn't prioritize it until 2016 when the government was divided and this issue caused the rise of Trump. Trump took advantage of the divide and then created The Wall which appealed to me at that time. Trump had the whole government in his first two years and didn't receive funding? Which has led to today.
