Of course!

If it really is possible to leave SSA behind and become straight, I would accept any testimony as genuine in good faith. If reparative therapy works, I have no reason to resent it or suspect it.

But people lie to themselves and others all the time.

The answer may not be what we want sometimes. In this case it may mean chastity or trying to be chaste for your whole life. I think we have to accept that as Christians we will all carry a Cross if we are doing it right. But, the Cross could be a test and could also help us become more holy and righteous.

When I became Catholic and my wife started her Catechism studies I found it difficult to accept that smoking pot was a grave sin, that watching porn was a grave sin, that masturbation was a grave sin, that I had to go to Church every week and any day of obligation, that I needed confession with a priest, that I had to change how I treated people, that I needed to pray daily, that I needed to give my time and my self to others and expect nothing in return, etc...

It is not easy when God the Father calls one at the age of 30 and they have been living a life that they thought was "not too bad" and they discover that they were sinning all the time and commiting grave sins all the time. Thank God for His Mercy and understanding with cupability. I guarantee the court system does not care about ignorance but God sure does.

Wait, people actually believe homosexuality is completely choice and can be changed?

...What?!?

Listen, the condition of homosexuality can be compared to the condition of alcoholism. You are never really cured; you just learn how to cope, eventually to the point where it is no longer a real problem. However, it is always there, looming over us, occasionally tempting us. It will remain until we are made completely whole again with God.

It does not make it right. However, we should treat each person with dignity and respect, making sure not to ignore the problem but tackling it head on. We treat addicts with respect and show them compassion; we don't we treat homosexuals the same way? The entire world is, for the most part, homophobic. Instead of becoming a refuge of love and care, most churches spews the same "homosexual sex and marriage is a sin" that everyone already knows about. I get it. Homosexuality relations is wrong. Let's move on to aiding those who need it.

I don't know if it was intended, but eastcoast's answer provided what homosexuals most likely feel like. They see everyone else having relationships and notice that their different. They just want what everyone else has, which, unfortunately, they can't really have.

mg0086, the best advice is what is shown above: love and care with gentle teaching. Don't sell out, of course, but try teaching others to treat homosexuals with care, as love begets love. Once general love and acceptance steps in, guide homosexuals down the true path; don't expect those with hard hearts to listen to anyone, or there words will fall on deaf ears. I don't think it'll split the Church, it's just a real issue the Church needs to address now. Also, remember there is a fine line between someone admitting their faults and talking about them openly and someone actively leading a sinful lifestyle.

well thats really strange, so what your saying is when Jesus Christ sets sombody free from sin THEIR NOT REALLY FREE? its just a trick they're playing on their own mind, that really deep down the Son of God has left somthing to always hang over their head ready to carry them back to what once held them in bondage, thats a really bad theology! my bible tells me who the Son sets free is free INDEED!

With all things - LETS LOOK at the BIGGER PICTURE

When we take a glass of water and compare it to the ocean - we can see how crazy it might seem to think how half full or empty the glass is after all - in the whole scope of things.

SO if anyone can reason - and i suppose most can - they ought to take a long look at what they are trading for when they chose SSA relationships over eternity.
That 15 seconds of a climactic finale adds up to what in a year?

Perhaps 456.25 minutes a year if 15 seconds per day every day - out of 525,600 minutes in a year - means a human with this persuasion is willing to give up an eternity of peace and love and all that is good for 456.25 minutes a year. [Its a phenomenon that anyone thinks this is worth it]

AND that is only - only if they are guaranteed to have those 15 seconds every day of the year - regardless of illness or separation. [Or being between relationships - as down time]

Think about it- why anyone would be so willing to give up the ocean [lets pretend clear crisp water] vs a single glass is beyond me.

There are no guarantees in human love that it will last [because death comes eventually], that it will work, that it will be fulfilling, that it will be in the end - worth it.

Well, frankly, nothing is worth hell... thats the honest truth.
NDE's who went and came back say that not even in anger could they wish anyone that fate [which includes enemies]. It is more terrible than anyone knows or could possibly conceive.
Perhaps eternity does not register in our minds.

PONDER THIS:

Picture a bird that fly's in from outer space, and he picks up one grain of sand then fly's off for a million years. At which time it returns for another grain of sand.and again fly's away for another million years. Now think about a hand full of sand and how long that would take, now a beach , now every grain of sand on the planet. MOUNTAINS of sand - Well the bird could get every grain of sand on the planet, and ETERNITY would hardly have begun..
AND even if the bird returned each grain of sand with a million years in between - eternity still has barely begun.

Its endless. The torment and agony is endless. There is no time out. There is no rest. There is no such thing as a single drop of water to parch the dry burning. There is absolutely nothing to relieve the pain. Nothing.

And just because someone does not like God for this, it still will not change God.

Free will - is fine. However; think about what you are trading in for and what returns you will get for 15 seconds a day - as though all of eternity were worth that few seconds in time.

It would be simply choosing one sex over the other, not actually changing sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual.

It would be simply choosing one sex over the other, not actually changing sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual.

However, in the post which I quoted in my previous post, it was stated that people were deceiving themselves by being attracted to both sexes - at different times in their lives. It was also stated that they were comforting themselves with one sex whilst actually being attracted to the other sex.

Therefore I would like clarification: What about bisexuals?
Are they deceiving themselves? Are you denying that bi-sexual orientation exists?
