Of course!
If it really is possible to leave SSA behind and become straight, I would accept any testimony as genuine in good faith. If reparative therapy works, I have no reason to resent it or suspect it.
But people lie to themselves and others all the time.
The answer may not be what we want sometimes. In this case it may mean chastity or trying to be chaste for your whole life. I think we have to accept that as Christians we will all carry a Cross if we are doing it right. But, the Cross could be a test and could also help us become more holy and righteous.
When I became Catholic and my wife started her Catechism studies I found it difficult to accept that smoking pot was a grave sin, that watching porn was a grave sin, that masturbation was a grave sin, that I had to go to Church every week and any day of obligation, that I needed confession with a priest, that I had to change how I treated people, that I needed to pray daily, that I needed to give my time and my self to others and expect nothing in return, etc...
It is not easy when God the Father calls one at the age of 30 and they have been living a life that they thought was "not too bad" and they discover that they were sinning all the time and commiting grave sins all the time. Thank God for His Mercy and understanding with cupability. I guarantee the court system does not care about ignorance but God sure does.
