At what point does it become dishonest?

It wouldn't be flood sorting like in chaos of remains being sorted. Rather creationism would see whole areas swept up in a current and a area ten miles away swept up in a different current and one laid on the other at some place they both settle. One area under another from different hours and so great currents. perhaps different days or weeks. the geologic column shows different strata from different origins. However they are just from times during the flood. so equally possible to have different contents.
flood deposition doesnt account for the depths of the layers, the vertical size of the layers, the different ecosystems contained, the kinds of ecosystems contained, the primitive to modern morphology directly coinciding with he primitive to modern stratigraphy and dating, ecosystem characteristics directly coinciding with retroactive plate tectonics (tropical ecosystems occur at tropical zones when plate tectonics are rolled back). Modern geology and biology account for ALL of these.

The flood does account for deposition of everything.
Creationism imagines a great surging water/sediment churning around the planet from the moving continents. Not sorting like in a choatic river today but great movements of sediment that suddenly would stamp down on this are or that freezing anything in place. Yes depths, strata differences, and life fossils would be in the order of how they were collected or living at any one point.

One must not imagine a minor deposition on top of the earth from the remains of the flood but all the covering of earth was the product of the flood. Save a few post flood things.
The world is best expolained by a great movement of power pushing sediment about and stomping down in this area or filling up in that area too great depths and then new currents with more depths.
Everything shows deposition . Geology admits there is water deposition but imagines slow processes. no need as fast great processes do the trick better.

I thought it prudent to highlight the key word here -- the rest is tangental.
