• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I totally needed to read that. I'm still feeling fairly anxious at the moment, I think it only got worse since I got married because I am afraid that I'll lose my wife, but knowing that there's light at the end of the tunnel and especially that my anxiety isn't a sin is invaluable. Thank you so much, my brother, and God bless you.

My anxiety is running very high today. My husband is getting ready to go to Chicago for five days. He does this every week. Home (Indy) for three days and away for five. My anxiety is always much higher on the days that he leaves and the days that he returns.

That is a tough schedule. You have my prayers as my husband did some training and the company had him here there and yonder. I thank the Lord for the internet as we skyped often and that helped our daughter. I am also thankful for family that are not far away.

I have noticed that I am more relaxed when my husband worked the night shift and was home during the day. He received a promotion and now mostly works days and comes home exhausted from the work and the commute.

Stress levels are running really high today. My 16 year old daughter snuck out of the house last night to go to her boyfriend's. My husband came home today. We are waiting for our daughter to get home from school to confront her about it. She already knows that I know because I was up when she got home.

Wow this is great!

I have been suffering from anxiety for some time now and your message is truly inspiring and the spirit of truth is definately in it. Jesus Christ knows our strengths and weeknesses whether it be disease or not. "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5):)

There is great unfailing hope in Christ, because He truly i the way to truth and is the truth. Praise be God The Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

:amen:

I am new to this forum & was happy to find a Christian group that deals with the issue of anxiety/depression/panic. I felt guilty for years for being this way & still feel that way sometimes because I know that part of my problem probably stems from a lack of faith and whatever is not from faith is sin, but I also believe that for many of us these problems are caused by a physical condition in the brain. For instance, this runs on my mother's side of the family. I have cousins who I barely know who I've heard suffer from this, so it isn't because we were brought up in the same atmosphere or had the same type of childhood. My doctor is a Christian and really believes it is brain chemistry in many cases. I too have heard (from people who have never personally had these problems) that we should conquer it by faith & not need Prozac or whatever. Yes, faith and prayer changes & heals many things but also the Lord created medicine for a reason. If your problem is caused by an actual physical condition in the brain then that makes it a physical problem. We don't tell a person with heart disease or cancer that they should just have faith & not need medicine. I agree with the late Dr. J. Vernon McGee who taught "Through the Bible Radio". He once suffered with cancer & his thoughts were that after a diagnoses, go to the Lord in prayer & then find the best doctor you can! I do believe that our mental issues can be healed or at least vastly improved by a close relationship to God and by His Word but I don't think it's a sin to take a medication as long as we don't abuse it. I am currently trying both approaches together. I also agree with the person on here who said Jesus suffered great anxiety in the garden of Gethsemane. He said to his disciples that His soul was sorrowful to the point of death. I know what it feels like to be so depressed that life seems too hard to get through. I have actually envied people in the obituary column because their struggle is over! But I am also very thankful that the Gospel includes this comment of Jesus because it proves to me that He understands exactly what this kind of sorrow feels like! He probably experienced a sadness & anxiety deeper than any of us can imagine. But He arose victorious over death, heall & the grave & I believe He can and is willing to give us victory over these issues. The Holy One who conquered death can surely conquer anything we come up against in this life. Glory to His name!

Hi Dogperson and welcome! I, too, am a dog lover!

I am already anxious about going to church tomorrow. I couldn't go last week due to a really bad cold. Tomorrow is our church's Christmas breakfast. I want to go, but the thoughts of the crowds bother me.

Did you get to go to the church breakfast today? I really hope so. Our morning church services were called off due to heavy snow but we had our Christmas program tonight. I too am sometimes afraid to go be in a big crowd when I am feeling anxious or worried. I guess I fear having a panic attack in public, although most of the panic attacks I have ever had have been at home or at work. Hope you are feeling better!
