Isn’t religion silly?
It says do this or that, and then your good.Paul even called it the “elemental spirits” of the world”.Talking about externals. And the ceremonial laws.
Colossians 2:20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch”
He said they look pretty cool to the flesh, that loves religion, yet externals have no power. After all,how can asceticism, stop sin.One can be a basket making monk, and be loaded with lust!
Colossians 2:23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.
Needless to say,Sabbath keeping, and laws, were nailed to the cross. And notice the next verse.Seems like the devil is disarmed, when he cant use the law,to accuse us Chrisitians.
Colossians 2:14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Paul also used similar phraseology in Galatians four, while clearly talking about the law.
Galatians 4:9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?
In a nutshell, this thread is for us rebels that want to walk in His power, not the flesh, under the worlds crude notions,of self abasement, and false humility, which leads to pride.
Lets hear it friends, we want grace, not religion!
This is a petition,to say no walking in the flesh, under the law.

We dont want our own righteousness that comes from a self congratulatory system, like the pharisees.
Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
