Hi, TDH; I took all the guys off of my buddy list, except for my BF. I figured it was the proper thing to do.
How have you been?
Did J see you on?

Proper & your boyfriend is a lucky guy!

Life is a battle field...but it sure is fun:thumbsup:

God is healing me.
My daughter's fiance' is buying her step-mother's car.
I didn't even bat an eye when my daughter told me.
It didn't bother me one bit.
I was just happy the kid was getting a car.
Thank You Lord!

(It's the small steps that we need to be thankful for as they point out to us that we are moving on with Him!)

BW, I just wrote this really, really long post and when I hit send - it was gone.
So let me try this again.
(Where is a pulling hair out smiley when you need one?)

Did your son ask your SD to get the beer or did she offer it?
I don't know if that makes any difference or not - but I have another story that might help illustrate why I'm asking.
Does you SD have self esteem issues? Would doing something like this help her feel good about herself - because he would think she was so cool? Would she do this to gain your son as a friend?

Here is my other story.

My nephew has been pretty much on his own since he was 17. He lived with me a couple of times for about 3 months each time but other than that he stayed at friends' houses/apartments and slept on their couches. He has been drinking at least since then - probably years before that too. He just turned 21 this month. His mom never really said anything - mainly because she wasn't taking any responsibility for him financially, housing him, etc. and I think also because when she and I were in college the drinking age was 18 and we drank then.

So anyway, about a year ago he asked me to go with him to get some beer. I said no, but after he begged me a few times I said yes. I knew his mom wouldn't care and honestly I have a very hard time with telling this kid no for too many things.

So we go to the store. He goes in with me to pick out the beer as the last time I had one was 30 years ago. I immediately get this feeling that I am a criminal come over me. I began looking for the cameras. My nephew is whispering to me to stop looking so guilty. Then I got tickled - and well - it just got worse. We were so OBVIOUS. We laughed all the way home - (but I never did again - nor did he ask me)!!!

Long story short. Do you think her intent, her heart motivation was to disrespect you? Or do you think it was to be the cool 'big sister" and/or be liked? Either way it is wrong, but her heart motivation would make a big difference to me.
I hope I'm making sense!

I think what happened with you and your nephew is exactly the attitude that happened with my brother in law and my son. That's why I feel differently about his doing it, tho also disappointed.

I haven't had a chance to speak with my son again, but I do intend to ask how it went down with her. The thing is this....his father is an alcoholic, her mother is an alcoholic, my father was an alcoholic, both of my husband's parents were raging drinkers and affected him greatly. She's knows all of this and our concerns about it. We imposed a two drink limit on both the girls. Drinking to excess is not acceptable here. They both know our stance about alcohol. She KNEW I would have a problem with this.

Yet she bought my underage son alcohol. And she and her sister have consistently been resentful and rebellious.

So I suspect that while it may not have been done to be malicious, it was definitely in defiance and probably in rebellion.

But until I hear the circumstances, I'm waiting. I haven't even told my husband yet.

I DID decide I am going to talk to my brother-in-law and explain that I know what he did as well as his resistance and his decision not to do it again. I will let him know I trust him with my son so long as he assures me it won't happen again.

Sigh.

'Everything' is a struggle with that child right now. It's been a rough four years!

Thanks for the long post effort. Isn't that frustrating when that happens??

ANNOUNCEMENT:

As of today, I do not have a BF. Actually, I don't think I had one to begin with; just a good friend.
I was mistaken or something anyway...
Oh, well.

Hey Dallas!

I can't even have that picture in my head of what it would look like to have an octopus come to my dinner table. YUCK!!! I ate some fried squid this past weekend for the first time. I was okay eating it until the picture came in my head and then I had to stop.

I can eat shrimp, crawfish, crabs, lobster - no problem. Don't know why those don't bother me!!!

Glad to "see" you!

Yeah I have had fried squid too. Its bland and rubbery.

I have also tried fried shrimp heads(its a Jananese treat). They tasted ok but I couldnt get over the fact I was eating eyeballs, brains and wiskers!

Banana gobbles those things up.

I love other seafood including raw oysters.

Its funny how we can eat some stuff that would make another person throw up and other stuff just gives us the heeby jeebies!

I pretty much don't like raw anything! I ate a raw oyster once. You are supposed to just slide it down your throat and not chew it, right? What's the point in that???

I've never heard of eating fried shrimp heads. What would make someone ever think to cook that? I mean really! Who said one day - hey let's eat some shrimp heads, eyeballs, whiskers - and that sounded GOOD to someone? I don't get it.

I think its one of those "neccesity is the mother of all invention" kinda things.

For instance Im from the south and I love fried chicken livers.

One time(at band camp) I was watching one of those shows where they make people eat gross stuff as part of the competition the win the big prize.

One of the gross things was fried chicken livers. The woman litterally through up right on the show trying to force herself to eat them.

Go figure?

Oh my gosh - how funny to think something you ate regularly made someone else that sick - and it was picked as something so disgusting to be on TV.

Alot of people have a problem with boiled crawfish.
Some folks suck the heads (I don't!) but I'm sure that would make some really ill.

Just plain old chicken breast if fine with me!

One of my very favorite shows - 7th Heaven - was supposed to have had it's last season this last year - but it is starting up again on Monday. I'm sooooo happy about that. It is a show with real family values - and there aren't many of those around anymore!!!

I never saw it till my niece was here one day and she watches it.

Im sorry maybe Im too jaded. But it just seemed so "brady bunch, leave it to beaver to me.

I found myself doing the "roll eyeys" kind of thing.

Arent I horrible?

I've never seem 7th Heaven. We don't watch a lot of TV shows. We do like the show Lost and have become hooked. The other thing we watch mainly is old movies from TCM.

I've never watched Lost but my boss said I should buy the original season on DVD and watch it and I will just love it! I think if anyone asks me what I want for Christmas I may tell them to get me that. (Hope it doesn't cost $100 bucks or something!) She also said that about the series 24.

Emily said yesterday that she watched a new show (I think) called Jericho and it was wonderful so I'm curious about that one too.

I do watch alot of tv - especially in the wintertime.
Keeps me company.

No your not horrible. I've watched the show since the beginning - when the kids in the show were little, little - so I guess that's why I still like it. I watched them grow up! :D
